Exige Touring pack seats
Hi, I'm new here. Have an ardent red/touring pack exige coming May 1st. Wondering how you feel about the seats, and comfort for daily and road tripping.
I'm coming from a tightly sprung MINI S on 40 series tires, so I'm used to a bit of a rough ride. Want some photos of the seats, and opinions on how the 2006 seats feel for extended trips. I am in Santa Cruz, Ca. and want to take the car to Solvang/Santa Barbara. Am I in for the bumpiest ride of my life? I'm used to the MINI, but would love some interior pics and thoughts on extended roadtrips in the Exige with Touring pack seats. Cheers, Skottoman |

I took delivery of my Exige 6 weeks ago - with leather touring pack seats. It's not my daily driver, but it was while I was getting up to the first service
I have now put 1,400 miles on the car (I was away for a week) and I have been really impressed with how comfortable the ride is although my longest stretch has been 2.5 hours. Obviously it is a firm ride, but I think the seats and driving position are good. Not sure I have any picks of the seats.

So does the new 2006 padding make a difference? I don't plan on making this my daily driver (my MINI is for that), but I do wonder about putting the first 1000 miles on. Would still love some pics. I've even seen some 2 tones that looked awesome.
So excited to get a lotus, In 1988 I saw a pearl white esprit, and from that day I swore I would own a lotus someday. 2 weeks from now is that day. I'm sure you'll be hearing more from me from now on... Cheers, Skottoman |

Yes, I sat in an Exige equipped with the cloth seats. Felt normal to me, but it's hard to tell when you're sitting still. I figured the leather would be a little nicer so I went with the touring pack.

I've sat in the cloth seats but, it feels the same as the leather. As far as track or autocross is concerned, it is better to go with the cloth as it has better grip that will prevent you from sliding. |

Well, I can't really change my mind now, getting the leather. Maybe I should just install a good harness that will hold me in the leather seats for the few track days I will experience. Otherwise, I guess i will enjoy the leather for days out on the public roads.

Sliding
I had a sport package '05 until ...well lets not talk about that shall we?
Anyway, I auto x'd my car and had leather seats. I'm pretty trim and I didn't move one iota when racing it. as for comfort. THis car will rattle the teeth out of your head on the wrong roads compared to the mini but the ride is very comfortable considering what you are driving. I drove from Seattle to Atlanta via direct route using MOntana and then back using the southern route. Each time I drove the whole way in the same seat. We did about 14 hrs a day +/- 3 hrs and I never once got tired of the seat. The Exige well, apparantly those seats are even more comfortable. I don't think you'll have any issues but you will feel very much in contact with the road. You'll be sitting inches lower than the Mini. laters trevor you'll have a blast. I envy you. if you sell the car, keep me in mind |

Thanks for the feedback. makes me feel better about the leather seats. My MINI is quite bumpy and jarring due to the light wheels and low profile tires. In some ways I suspect the Exige to be smoother with more sidewall. The 215/40 Yoko es100's on the mini are worn and quite low profile. Just a little over an inch!
I'll be sure to post up photos when I get the car after May 1st. Cheers, Skottoman |

I drive an Elise as a daily driver (28k) and my wife has JCW Mini Cooper S. The seats in the Elise are firmer but the position is better at least for me and the ride is less hobby horsey - the Mini is not so good over the bumps probably because of the higher CG (I have not compared the wheelbase but I think they might be close).
I sat in an Exige in the Criswell showroom and immediately felt the seats were better than the Elise... So you might find yourself leaving the Mini home and taking the comfortable ride instead ![]() |
