Innovative mounts installed

I just drove my car today after the install and I am very pleased. It has helped the shifting a lot and that is really what I was looking for.
The vibration is there of course but I don't think it is that bad. I am familiar with using stiffer engine mounts so I knew what I was in for but the benefits of these mounts far out weigh the negative.
It was my first mod with this car and I'm happy with my choice.

I did Manly's engine mounts. Cheaper, faster, easier. Then had a new rattle at every 500 rpm change--dash, then driver door, then firewall, then passenger door, etc. Chaised them down, dash was the worst, like 3 different rattles in there all easily solved after taking apart dash for radio install.

On the front lower mount I believe I used a socket on the top nut with a short extension. Then a ratchet box end wrench on the bottom one.

+1

A wobble extension might just be the trick. Be patient, I was only able to get one or two clicks on the ratchet at a time...

Dash vibration fix

This adds some weight, but at least for my car the most pronounced vibrations after the mounts has been eliminated.

Put some more time on the car. The vibrations go down with use.

True, but they will always be there. My car is 100% track, so the vibes from these mounts did not bother me. But there is no way I would install these on a street car. Great track car mod, but (IMO), bad mod for a street car.

My daily is a Benz S550. My toy is the Exige. If I made my toy feel like my daily, what would I have to look forward to driving. Solid mounts make the Lotus. I actually upgraded mine to the 85a and now it feels even more like a GoKart.

That's on top of the airbag module... I'd be wary of doing that. (Maybe you have both of your airbags out and don't care?)

Manly's engine mounts only makes the front left of my car rattle when its cold... other than that, definitely worth it as this car has many problems with engine movement

Try this in your driveway: parking brake on (firmly), first gear... turn your head so you can see the engine through the rear window... now just let out the clutch enough to put load on the engine, but not override the parking brake and move the car. Tell me how much your engine moves...

The front mount is the weakest mount. If you make only the front and rear mounts solid you will run into the risk of pulling the threads out of the block. To ease up on the vibration you can also try switching the front mount to the OEM mount.

This is what we did on our Exige and it helped ease the vibes making the car more liveable. Using all 4 mounts remains the best performance solution.
