Just got hit by a drunk driver in Beverly Hills. **UPDATED**

On my way home back to my LA house... just got hit by a drunk driver. (Girl in an ML 320 Mercedes who pulled in front of me like I wasn't even there.)

She was very combative with police.

Exige S is wrecked. I'm still in shock.

I'm OK... airbags never deployed.

BAD NEWS/GOOD NEWS

The bad news is that you were in an accident. The good news is that you are OK. The better news is that the drunk just bought you a new car.

Glad you are alright - Don't discount any aches and pains (No, I am not sue happy) I was involved in a similar accident but at a much higher rate of speed and it took a couple days for the soreness to really set in! I hope this lesson sinks in for this young lady - It will be an expensive one!

That's ugly. That has got to be a write off. Glad to see you here tell us about it and not someone else. You mind sharing further details of how it happened, just curious. Was she **** faced drunk or that assanine "oh, I only had two drinks." God I hate that.

Wow that is terrible. Glad your ok. After a similar accident several years ago. I seemed to flinch every time someone pulled out in front of me for a while.

At least California probably requires auto insurance. Wisconsin doesn't as the Tavern League has successfully lobbied (i.e. paid off state legislators) to keep it from being required in this state. You can't make any money running a bar if the true alcoholics can't register their cars because of lack of insurance. They have to get to the bar somehow (poor dears!!) Every Police column in the local paper is a list of names with 5th , 6th, 7th offense, impaired driving but nothing serious is done about it. To explain any political decision in this state (and probably any other) just follow the money...Dave

I would think insurance companies have more money than taverns in Wisconsin.

By the time someone gets to the 1st offense, it's time for a lifetime suspension. The 2nd offense should be lifetime imprisonment. That's sort of how it works in Germany, and isn't Wisconsin supposed to be New Germany?
