Maybe since you went under the car it allowed for a somewhat linear deceleration. where as if you would have hit a more perpendicular object, the car would have had a much blunter deceleration.

Sickening.

I would have had a hard time restraining myself. Perhaps it was a good thing you couldn't get out of the car immediately?!

Glad you were not seriously injured. By the looks of it, I would have expected the airbags to deploy.

Thanks for all of your well wishes!

In the end, it's just a car - and will be replaced. I'm just happy she didn't hurt or kill anyone. There were lots of people around.... and lots of witnesses.

I'm going to guess that she was in her mid to late 20s. The police basically kept us apart as they questioned us.

I wonder if there's any DUI enhancement when an accident happens? (Versus just being pulled over for DUI.)

Flash, I didn't see you mention it and perhaps you don't know but did they arrest her while you were still present. Sobriety test even?

Depends on where the airbag sensors are - DOT requires those to be in the bumper. So if you nosedive, it's quite possible the airbags won't go off.

Jesus - way to be another entitlement mentality on tort law... This is the through process that has f'd up our entire health car industry and will be the end of our society.

To the OP - sorry about the wreck. If they do total out the car, it will probably be a quicker process than repairing. I was lightly t-boned and have been without my car for almost 12 weeks now...

Um, no. DUI in Germany basically means you won't ever drive legaly again. Lifetime imprisonment? Far from it. Don't forget that most EU nations have a 0.0 BAC threshold, which I have to admit is a little overzealous.

1) Get a lawyer.
2) Was the girl hot?
3) Sad to see a crashed Exige S. Will you replace it with an 08 model or something else? Had it been an 06 Exige, wouldn't matter. Those are dogs. But to see the 07 S get damaged by a drunk driver, very sad.

Hope all works out for you. Best wishes at a tough time.

They did the field sobriety test and arrested her right there at the scene.

1) I may have to. I want back every penny I paid for the car (if it's totalled) and I don't want some "depreciated value" nonsense.

2) All I saw was blonde hair. They kept us apart.

3) If it IS totalled, I will replace it with the first new Ardent Red Exige S I can find.
