Great thread T.O

Anymore news/experiences to relate on the KOmo-tec now youve had it a while?

Taken it to the track yet?

Cheers Paul

AFAIK, there's also a 300hp kit available from Komo-tec, which produces around 285whp!
There's also a triple pass radiator that you can fit instead of the stock radiator. The new one is also available from Lotus Sport!

As for oil temp concerns, Lotus Sports has announced a Laminova water oil cooler. This kit must do wonders in our car combined with a more efficient cooling system!

Do you think T.O. Exige that it'd worth it going for the more extreme version?

I'm going to get an Exige Cup 260 this spring, and am looking forward to boosting it a bit from "stock" power!

Cheers,

Theo

The S300 phase 3 upgrade kit from S280 phase 2 composes of 2 items;

- Optimized S300 ECU raising bhp & torque.
- Larger and smoother airflow sensor assembly.

S280 ECU & smaller airflow sensor assembly are returned to Komo-Tec through their purchase & swap program. I have had this upgrade kit fitted a month ago.

Remember the first time you drove the car after the S280 phase 2 was fitted? Remember the way the torque pulled hard all the way to redline? That priceless feeling, be prepared to be impressed again.

Happy to report, lower range RPM torque increase has now improved driveability (S280 still needed occasional downshifts once in awhile to get going), while RPM climb to redline is faster, smooth, alot more aggressive.

Smile What a Rush !!!

Just got the car out of winter hibernation (storage at the Toronto Lotus dealer) last week since the dry weather has returned. What a rush!!

The car has now turned over 8500 miles and runs like the first day the KOMO-TEC 280S kit was installed. The Kit has been flawless from every point and has over delivered on every promise it made.

The only complaint I have, is the amount of rubber the kit has removed from my tires If you stand on it, without the Traction Control on, the tires light up all the way through 2nd gear once they break traction.

Picture the look on the faces of the Porsche drivers when you pull by them on the straights at the track ...Worth every nickel spent.

I have considered the new 300S upgrade but, at this point, the current performance is beyond my driving capabilities. The One item I would recommend if you do go with the KOMO-TEC upgrade is bigger brakes. Because of the additional speed in which you are coming into the corners on both the short and long tracks....bigger brakes are next on my list.

TO, You said that your temperature is usually 207.
I have a na exige, and my usual temp is 190.

was your S originally running at 207?

Im talking about driving temperature, not stop, and go traffic temperature....

The car always ran at a maximum engine temperature of 207 degrees. The one thing I was concerned with before I installed the kit was any engine temperature increase.

After the install in all driving conditions in the middle of the summer (90 degrees), the temperature never went over 207.

Video of Acceleration

If anyone is interested, I just posted a video of the acceleration from about 5 mph (10 kpm) to 140 mph (225 khm).

Sorry about the choppy image and excessive wind noise. My son took the video last night on a 1 mile stretch of highway between on and off ramps. I had just hit 6th gear at 140 mph (225 khm) and ran out of road.

Considering... Full tank of gas, 155 lb passenger, 225 lb driver & Roof of the car

Its still pretty quick.

Darwin Award nominee. (A Great Man By The Way!)

I appreciate you highlighting selected text in BOLD RED...

Just for clarification, not that I owe you any.

This was done a 3 Am in the evening on an empty, newly built stretch of private toll highway with no other cars around. We could have driven for 5 miles in a straight line but, I was only interested in the mile distance we had marked out from entrance to off ramp exit.

You're not still sore because I didn't buy your overpriced brake set I hope.

Hey it's not like I haven't heard of someone who might have done the same thing in West Texas where you could see for miles and miles and the road was perfectly straight...

But that said, if I wanted to take my son for a ride at 140 MPH, I'd do it on a track. Of course I'd have a lot of trouble with that as the fastest I've been able to get my car on track is 129 or so (not to mention that I don't have a son). NA FTW.

I think you'll just have to accept that there are going to be those who will 'look down' on you for giving your son a ride at 140 MPH on a public road. That said, I REALLY wish my dad had given me a ride in an Exige at 140 MPH when he was alive.

I appreciate and respect yours and others opinions. Just to fill in the blank, my son is 22 years old, rides a Ducati 966 SP when he is not driving the Lotus (He put more miles on the car than I did last summer).

Dyno Video

Here's a short video my son took of the car on the dyno after installing the second Komo-Tec ECU map. The best run with the new map produced 273hp and 172lbs of torque to the wheels.
