Leftlane News: 6 cyl Exige spied???
Hello all.
Not an Exige owner (have 09 Z06, but appreciate all performance cars), although a huge Exige fan, and have kicked around getting an Exige S for a few years now. Although I respect the whole esteem/mantra around the Exige, and realize it delivers good performance, I still feel it is still a little "light" in the engine/horsepower department. Especially considering the HP that other 4cyl turbo/supercharged engines (Evo, Sti, Cobalt, etc) are putting out.. and have always "wished" Lotus to get the HP closer to the 300 mark. So, when I saw this link on Leftlanenews about the Exige with the Evora motor.. it perked my interest: ![]() Spied: Lotus Exige V6 I did a quick look and did see any other posts on this topic, but wanted your thoughts on this combination on future (2011?) Exiges. Also, I cant tell from other posts/research... but is the 2010 260s available in the states still? Are the still only bringing 50 here? Thanks everyone in advance for any information.. I don't see how releasing a six cylinder engine with the current Exige S2 lineup would work. I'm predicting it is a drive train mule or a re-bodied "S3" on the VVH platform.
And holy smokes are the people that post on LLN comments ever stupid, and I'm not only talking about the troll. |

QUOTE: "Information is still sketchy..................This crafty camouflage is hiding the next Exige. - But nothing was able to hide the evidence of the 3.6 Liter V6 from our spies."
This statement made by such super sleuths seems quite unreliable to say the least, in my opinion. I think maybe they're pulling this out of their arses. If nothing was able to hide the evidence of the V6 like they say, then where's the shots of it? Not much was said and not much evidence proved, and only 2 photos from the same side. Sketchy information they say? Yeah, no kidding. I kinda doubt this will pan out. With the 240 & cup260 Exige out already in the past and due for some more representation for 2010, and also with the Evora already out, I dont think they'll do it. It'll be only a est.20hp increase from the cup260's #'s anyways. Why would they bother? It would steal the Evora's thunder, so to speak, right after its release to the public. Mind you the Evora is in a slight class that differs from the Exige by way of the 2+2 option. But I dont see it happening none the less. Not any time soon anyways. Unless Lotus ends up in a pinch and tries every ditch effort to regain sales after a slump in the market or something. Just my $0.02. Cheerio,

They didn't make 50 2009's after all - only 15 were shipped. About half are still currently available with 1 for sale used.

In a different post, an Evora with FI and 350 hp. is mentioned. Combining that motor with the Malaysian GT3 body and kept raw would not take away Evora sales and would make one nasty, exciting and fast Lotus. Come on Lotus, you have the pieces. Get it on.
