Rob, good points... unfortunately I don't know enough about Lotus' testing to know to what standards they design and test.

Seems like we have a couple design issues:

- fuel starvation
This seems very widely reported. Seems like a biggy.

- rev limit?
Are others dropping valves at high RPM on factory stock motors, or was this more of a fluke? Do we know this was definitely an RPM-induced thing?

And a bonus...

- oil starvation
A Moroso pan seems like an easy add for a track pack, and Rob, I think your data shows a pan works just fine for most conditions, versus an accusump? Is it possible you have more precise and extensive data under varied conditions than Lotus does? Maybe they'd like to see your data?

theob, yes, it'd be fabulous if you could get some feedback from Lotus on these items!

These seem like relatively simple issues for Lotus to address, versus transmissions failing or something, and sound like they could make a huge difference.

Theo,

Can't hurt, but I suspect Lotus are well aware of those issues.

And for the record, I do love the S260 -- because I point out issues with the Lotus engine please don't read that as I don't like my car, or the S260, hell if the Evora S comes out I might even sell my S for one

So I hope I'm not coming out as too negative on Lotus, I'm really just trying to point out a few issues that really could make this car better for all. As I've said before, I got no issues with the CYA warranty.

Rob,

Since I've talked with them during my recent trip to the factory in mid-March, I know they're obviously aware of all of these issues.

However, we'd like to have their recommendations about these "tracking" issues, and I think we're going to have some interesting replies!

Theob,

Thanks for following up on this and putting in the effort. I'm certainly interested in their response as I have "real data" (data logging and video evidence and pictures) to back up my issues (which they are more than welcome to obtain from me if they so desire).

As far as valve tips breaking -- has happened to many of the folks here on this forum (certainly the folks that track their cars). Also, if you look at the TSB history on the 2ZZ motor (from Toyota) it would indicate the 2ZZ rpm limit fluctuated over the span of the motors life (which is now no longer in active service) and finally ended at 7,800 rpm for the last year run.

Rob.

Yes for 2005 last year run it was 7800. I posted the changing rev limit of the 2ZZ over the entire life of it's usage in Toyota cars along with TSBs in another thread a few months ago.

2001 - 8400
2002 - 7800
2003 - 8400 (TSB on rocker shaft bolt)
2004 - 8400
2005 - 7800

You can easily get 32 highway mpg with "normal" driving. Just and FYI, looks great.

Shame about the color !?!? well, I know colors are subjective , but.....

This thread started as a poll by which Lotus talk members chose the color ! You chose Chrome Orange by majority votes Lotus talk readers ....Now buy it ! It's a babe !

Oh well.... ! It will find a home soon. Lot's of interested parties...no trigger pullers as of this morning.

P.S...I also have a Canyon Red 260 Sport available to me ( currently ducking waves on a boat about 1/2 way across the pond! ) and a Storm Titanium ( in production ) at the factory. These 3 will be it though....no more cars then.

Cheers all !

Didn't read all the pages, so if someone brought this up, my bad. Renounce means reject, was this really an official press release? Does renounce have a different meaning for "Brits?" Just seems kinda weird.
