K I am confused - if it doesn't create more power, how did they get a 46 BHP increase?

I really want this car - this is the Exige S they should bring here. They make Ethanol from corn right? I love corn...

You better start lobbying your government. Since, Washington state regulates what fuel mixtures you can buy and sell and where they come from. I hope you are a member of a country club and keep a money tree out back. Your sovereigns know better, thats why they are the smartest and best among us.

Absolutely! Gasoline contains 29MJ/l vs 19.6MJ/l for ethanol (and 14.6MJ/l for methanol) see wikipedia Fuel Energy Density for details!

The extra power must be as Bruce pointed out - through higher boost and mapping.

Me first, me first. Just kidding.

It's actually pretty easy to add power using the E85, usually no mapping is required as the ecu see's more are being sucked in through the maf/mas (airflow sensor) due to the raised boost and adjusts accordingly.

It's highly sought after in the serious racer crowd. Due to this fact (octane), and it's cheaper then regular gas.

Win/Win situation. Cheaper gas and more HP.

Is E85 really cheaper than gas in Canada? Where they have it in the US it's a about the same. And where it's the same price you're actually getting less since the energy content is less per gallon. It can be a niche fuel for racers like you say if they build to it. We don't even have it in the South. Doesn't matter much to me because you have to build the engine for it or have forced induction. There's no benefit in a NA Elise.

They have it in GA. Most US Army (maybe just military in general?) posts have it in their gas stations.

What's the pricing relative to gas?

Question:

Would this kit (and E85) get you to 265HP in an Exige S?

nope, you need an ecu remap to take advantage of the extra octane, the e265 car also has 2 extra injectors at the supercharger inlet.

I believe that kit includes an ECU re-map? What is the picture on the left with the little box with wires coming out? Is that re-mapping equipment?

It includes a device that alters the air fuel mix to correct it for the change in octane (reads off a o2/lambda sensor), that not enough of a change to take advantage of the extra octane.
