Talking My Lotus Exige Modifications :)

Hello Everyone,

Wanted to start a thread of all the modifications I have done since getting my car. This way I can display how the car was when I got it and how it has progressed over the last year. I purchased the car in PA from a private owner in March of last year.

Here are the specs and modifications that were on the car when purchased.

Painted Doors/Console and HVAC surround Semi gloss black
Aftermarket oil cap
Soft top ready with soft top

Thanks for the pics! I was wondering the other day what piano black trim would look like for the shift console, and HVAC surround and that answered my question. My car is Storm Titanium too and unlike other cars, you can hardly tell if you paint the interior pieces storm titanium... I just can't think of a good color!

You need to add a mod to your list: the side scoops have been painted body color from original black.

Have owned, enjoyed, appreciated, and now all gone:
1969 Europa S2 Blue
1970 Europa S2 White (my first)
1974 Europa Twin Cam Special Light Blue
1974 Europa Twin Cam Special #4380R Indigo Blue (my absolute favorite).
1984 Turbo Esprit Calypso Red
2005 Elise Starlight Black
2005 Elise Saffron Yellow
2005 Elise Ardent Red (used as development mule for the LETSLA)
2006 Exige Graphite Grey
2007 Exige S Canyon Red (first customer installation for the production LETSLA)
4380r is online now

The first couple of modifications I did was

Sector 111 Toe hook front and rear. I purchased them in red to match the engine cover and tail lamps. Trying to go with a red black and silver theme .

I also installed Polk audio speakers. I felt the ****ty factory speakers needed an upgrade. I also got a pile DVD pop up player. To say the least it was a pile of ****. I then replaced it with a kenwood iPod player that has been awesome. The pile sucked and when it popped out, it hit the wiper stalks.

Here are a few picture of my first time out with the car....

Thanks, can't believe I forgot that one. I really like the body color scoop look. However, I think the wing and front lip should stay black

You start to see the addiction setting in.... With car parts coming to my door on a frequent basis, I starting selling sketches and t shirts. This way the fiancé won't get too mad

Next I pieced together a set of driving lights from a few forum members. Gotta love the used parts threads.

To tell you the truth, I am not sure. I met a fellow lotus owner at a Cars and Coffee event here in detroit. Right after I bought my Larini exhaust, I had no idea how i was going to put it on without a new rear panel or eliminator kit. He sold me his old one for 25 bux. So, I rolled with it for a while. I actually then sold it to my buddy after getting a rear euro panel as seen in the pictures below.

I then got a flat tire while in Cincinnati. I decided to get a new set of wheels and tires as spares. I first thought of getting a second set of A048 and LSS wheels. After much debate, I obviously wanted to keep it to a factory Lotus wheel and went with the Y wheels. I got a great deal from Yoam. Along with the wheel purchase, I bought a used rear panel from a forum member. I like the more completed look as well as how much quieter it is. I found with the rear eliminator, you get noise from rocks and such getting stuck in your diffuser/under-tray.

I also purchased from Glenn a Difflow a diffuser exhaust hole cover.

During hibernation, I started thinking interior. I received a set of black door panels (leather) in a trade. Then purchased a black leather center console from sectors used parts list.
I then took the black tear drops out and replaced them with red tear drops from a forum member.

I then sold my front folding toe hook for a Jim clayton red toe hook.

Bought a bag organizer for the instrument panel.

Also had my buddy Jeff wrap my cluster binnacle, hvac surround and cup thingy on the back of the console.

Here is what Jeff is now wrapping for me. I sketched up a version for him to go off of....Not planning on doing the seats... Just wanted to see how it would look to have one seat red, one seat black.

They have a running PDF that is on there website. Sometimes they even have used leather wrapped parts from junked cars. When I talked to them, they had 2 black consoles. One drilled for TC and with red stitching, the other just all black w/o TC.

Yep, haven't installed them yet. I also had broken speaker cups in my bulkhead which I am planning on installing new ones. I will post picks of both when I do so
