Red face New Exige S Owner - more fun than the proverbial barrel of monkeys

Hi All,

I've been lurking around here for quite a while, waiting for the day that I would take the step and purchase an Exige S - well, Saturday was that day, and I haven't looked back since. This car is like no other I have ever experienced, and I have a feeling the learning curve is going to be a bit steep for a while (albeit it quite fun). I purchased a Solar Yellow with the Touring Pack and SS, sans the track pack. I did not get an owner's manual with the car (they had to order one for some reason), so I'm trying to learn all that I can right now from this site. Any pertinent suggestions or comments until I do get my manual? I've been following the break-in recommendations closely (per what I've found on the forums), and I'm still having a ton of enjoyment with the car. Also, are there any additional "must have" items that I should get for the car (besides track time)?

I'm looking forward to becoming an active member of this forum, it should be fun.

Cheers,
-Justyn

Congratulations!!!

I actually bought a barral of monkeys once. After all, lot's of people seem to use it as the standard by which to judge fun things. Turns out not to really be all that much fun.

Anyway, what is it that you are calling the "performance pack" if not the Track Pack?

xtn,

I now get the "McLareghini Bugatterrari" in your signature, incidentally after pouring over some past threads.

I always thought it was a variant of the car Homer Simpson got to drive last season. I believe he picked up a Lamborgotti Fasterossa. I could be wrong.

Cool. Once a guy pulled up next to me at a stoplight and asked "What the heck kinda car is that?" I just blurted out McLareghini Bugatterrari. Later that day at home I had to figure out how I was going to spell it!

What are you calling the "performance pack?"

SLOWLY in and out of driveways.

Get a new fix a flat at an Auto Parts store, wrap it in foam and put it in the trunk. The one that comes with the car new isn't very good.

Keep a microfiber towel under the front seat to wipe the inside windshield during foggy days and when the new dash offgasses.

Watch the coolant fluid level.

Is the windshield wiper blade working well?

If not get a good one right away, as the ones that come with the car are sometimes a little old and not so good....

Careful on the highway. Look out for cars coming too close. Or ones that can't see you....

HAVE A BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome and the tips.

One of my biggest challenges right now is figuring out where to put my Valentine 1. I have poured over all of the past threads, and there just doesn't seem to be a lot pertaining to the "S" regarding placement, considering the lack of view from behind. Any suggestions?

Thanks again!

Had to have verification:

Lamborgotti Fasterossa XT550 with ABS Sport-tech package

(at 2:05 minutes) (6:36 remaining)

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OVF1XfUpo2U"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OVF1XfUpo2U" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Lamborgotti -- for people who really have nothing inside.

For the V1 - ditch the mirror and hack the mount:

http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33360 (post #4)

Did you by chance check under the passenger seat for your manual? I found my missing tool kit there...and the manual wrapped up inside the trunk liner (thought it was missing too).

Ditch the honk'n stock mirror and get a micromirror. Oh, I forgot, it's an S. Remove the honk'n stock mirror and enjoy.

Congrats!

In the case of my S, at least, it is not the same as the Elise mirror. Very simple removal.

I put a wide-angle camera and have a 5" monitor that fits just below the dash line in the Cup. About $700 all-in and it's a hoot. Between that and the left side mirror looking back (I usually use the mirrors for blind spots, but not here) I'm good even for right lane changes.

I'll post some pics when I get a chance.
