Not for braking or cornering...

Besides, there are other ways to drop the intake air temp without going A2W.

Wow...such a hot topic (no pun intended). Once the weather warms up, even WILDWHL will have something to share on the topic (installed, but cold weather tests simply prove the intercooler stays cool in cool/cold weather, duh!).

Simple solution, though some will disagree. <---------more tease

My guess is that he removed the rear hatch, bought a mini fridge from the local price club bored 2 large holes, one on each side and wired it to his 12v. Thus encasing the A2A intercooler in an icy box.
Am I right or am I right?

You're richt.

The rear hatch is heavy.

The new, homebrew exhaust is lighter (using stock S tip). Today never saw IAT above 84 degrees in 70 ambient...but too early to form a verdict.

Yep +10

For those non-technical types, this means that the ability of water to absorb heat is 4 times that of air.

Given equal volumes into which to dump heat, the water system will last four times longer than the air system.

Put another way, you have to increase the volume of air by 4 to get the equivalent cooling capacity of a water system.

This is not even getting into issues of heat transfer and efficiencies of the design of the intercooler.

Of course we can get all theoretical about this, but what matters is empirical data showing the ability to cool the charge. I have yet to see any data on inlet / outlet temperatures.

So, water ought to be part of the solution, yes?

More to follow today...

Hey don't laugh too much, PWR has a ice barrel type intercooler into which you drop dry ice! For a drag race this works great, but for a day long event at a track....

Vaporware that you can buy in two weeks.

Look back a couple of weeks and you will see that the intercooler tubes were "vaporware", too.

Exactly! They will only let me release so much at this time... something about a microchip implant.

Microchip... yeah sure...

You're just trying to avoid another anal probe with one of your intercooler pipes!

Is that why we're supposed to wash them with soap and water first!

Or a strong disinfectant...

(Actually, though, you want to wash the intercooler tubes out with soapy water to remove any debris left over from production.)

So you'll lose a tiny amount of speed in the corner, but you'll make it up in the straits with the extra power...

I think I would take cornering/braking speeds over straight line speed. 20hp in a straight line is not going to make all that much difference.
