question for thamasio:
In your initial testing of the RLS Vs stock intercooler did you have air being ducted into the roof scoop to simulate airflow present while driving?

Edit:

nvm I found the answer you guys did it backwards

Sometimes you need to go backwards to move forward.

FYI - here was part of the Sunday drive group in Hong Kong. Pardon the point-and-shoot quality.

If you get the chance, HK is an amazing place.

And this is how the "boys" roll in HK. Same Sunday morning... Can you find the four law enforcement vehicles in this frame?

I'm trying to finally install the IC in my car and am stuck.

How do you remove that intake manifold from the stock intercooler? It looks like its glued in there or something and brute force isn't getting me anywhere. Attached are a few pics so you know what part I'm talking about.

Thanks

it's not an easy affair. (I was lazy so purchased the RLS piece.) but not impossible. Use a razor to cut away at the glue, and gently pull the shroud off. heard it's really easy to tear from those who've done it. I suggest loosening one full corner and going from there.

Hi Thomasio
I am very pleased with the quality of welding and painting of RLS intercooler that I have chosen black, equal to the new pipes very beautiful.
I can try performance on the track next August 21.
To install, I had to do two brackets to "Z" aluminium, but it was fun and easy.
Then, I enlarged air scoope with a design type double cone Venturi; so the air is pushed simultaneously in two ways: from top to bottom and from the sides towards the centre.

But I want to make you a question:
on RLS Intercooler there are two air vents (which you can see photos) that do not exist on original intercooler.
When I mounted the RLS intercooler, I closed the two air-intakes with silicone black, because I think that only in this way all the air entering the air scoope, go into the new intercooler.
I have done well or badly?
Thank you for an answer and excuse for my bad English

I've created a thin aluminium structure on which I glued the glass-resin. Then, I pasted it to the roof with mastic coach, so I smoothed everything very well. It was not easy for me...
Then, I brought the roof by the coach for the painting.
So, I spent, in all, about 150 euros = 230.00 dollars

After, I spent another 50 euros = 100 dollars, to enlarge the fixed part of air scoop (see photo); change very important.

Exclamation

Wait wait wait...hold up the phone....

I'm gonna have to fab up custom brackets to make this i/c fit??? That is VERY different from what was said at the beginning of this thread. I thought the whole idea (from the beginning of this thread) is that there was no custom fabbing involved to install this i/c? Folks went on and on and on about how they could get a cheaper i/c custom-made, but the response from Thomasio was always "yes, but will it be a drop-in mod, will it have the right mounting brackets..." etc. From the first post:

Now I'm really confused.

Since the story seems to be changing.... just how much custom fabbing/modding is needed to get this thing to install? I'm not welding or fabbing anything. I wanted plug and play for this price. If I have to start fabbing brackets then I believe I'll be asking for a refund.

Can anyone clarify? Thomasio? (your PM box is still full so I cannot reach you) Or someone else who has installed in an Exige S?

Also...

And the i/c had holes in the top of it where the welds weren't finished? You shouldn't have had to seal anything.... now I'm really getting concerned...Why aren't the welds complete????

Hopefully someone can clarify what is happening here. This is not good news.

And PS: that is not an intake manifold. The intake manifold is connected to the motor. The intake manifold has tubes (runners) that bring air into the intake ports. In NA the airbox/tube connects to the intake manifold. In s/c the s/c connects to the intake manifold. That little piece of plastic stuck to the i/c is just ducting.

Do not worry Smoky
I do not believe that the two areas not paid are important for performance, if the headset is well glued to the new intercooler.

The hardest thing is to remove the headset from the original intercooler

About the brackets: I was told that the brackets were in the kit, but when the kit has arrived, the brackets were not present.
However, it is easy.
You just need two strips of aluminum to fold as a "Z".
Then, with the drill, you must make two holes from 13 on each bracket and screw bolt with nut.
If you do see the photo to a blacksmith, will take a few minutes and cheap to make their
