Agreed. Sorry - we're done.

Don, I respectfully agree to disagree. I hope to buy a brake kit from you some day.

...and I'll be here to sell them -- brake kits that is; not intercoolers. Thank you...

were temps you're waiting for taken with probes or with an infared heat gun? PS The dyno guy is pretty slow with email

it's your friend

PS The sooner you get me the unit I just ordered the sooner you can actually have inlet and outlet temps monitored via probes.

Thx guys for the info! Hadn't come across those how-to's yet for fettling. I have heard of sealing the ducting in the roof to the clam, but just never heard it refered to as the header panel. I thought..well nevermind what I thought. :-b

That's cool!

A note on IF temp guns - the cheap ones usually don't allow you to change the correction factor for the type of material you're measuring and thus can be quite inaccurate. If you are using one and you can change the correction factor make sure it's set to "metal" - some even have different metal settings for the type of metal and whether or not is has paint on it etc etc.... more complexity. The really nice ones allow you to calibrate and store correction factors for different materials.

Moving the roof scoop opening to the high pressure area of the winshield helps too. All of these incremental improvements add up.

Airflow is certainly the weakest link.
Rather than build the air scoop into the roof I think modifying the hatch to improve the aerodynamic cooling may help. Instead of those useless chicken wire grills it may help to incorporate some 'shark gill' scoops into the hatch near the I/C area to create some beneficial pressure differentials.

Even better Mucielago style ducts that pop out when you need them!

woowee... that intercooler gauge is $300.00

I'm using a data-logging dual thermocouple temp probe. It wasn't much cheaper, but you can datalog or hook to a PC and record.

Thomas, your "really light graphics" will be shipping out in just a few hours. PLEASE send some pics when you get them on the car! (and lets make one to go on top of the intercooler )

I'm doing some graphics on that Isotope S240 soon. I'll be sure I show him your products. We were already talking about them since he showed up while I was on the phone with you. Believe or not, that was the first he ever heard of Lotus talk- so 2 Lotus, 3 cross country trips, and 35K miles later maybe we'll get him to join.

wow, awesome stuff thomas! i can't wait to see the dyno.

Did you let the car cool down completely before starting the dyno runs?

All I need is the new IC and the FF shorty header/sport cat and I'm done! 300hp! ...and maybe the 3.1 pulley for later.

RE: heatsoak dyno

the HP dropped in my car, but not in the way the posted 240 dyno was. THat shows the entire range dropping in power, whereas my dynos always dropped from 5,6k and above. THe lower RPMs were pretty much the same through 4 runs.

Guys - just completed a 3,100 mile trip out west with the '07 Exige S, rls Intercooler, rls Tubes, rls Injection and 3.1" pulley and an Innovate Motorsports wideband O2 sensor.

Altitudes varied from 650 feet above sea level (ASL) in the midwest, to 7,650 feet ASL at Estes Park, Colorado in the rockies. Air temperatures varied from 85 degrees F in Wyoming to 38 degrees F in the mountains.

Fuel octane varied from 93 octane to 89 octane (and when 89 octane was the only gas available, I was very happy to have the water/methanol injection).

The trip included freeway cruising for hours at, let's just say "very high speeds", to very aggressive high altitude mountain driving... again for hours at a time.

Power was fantastic, never experienced anything like heat soak, throttle response was excellent. Rear tires are worn down to the wear bars after the trip.

AFRs were spot-on under all conditions, even after 3,000+ miles of varied driving conditions.

I'll try to post some photos today.

Re: the dyno, the owner is working with DynaPack to add a network card in order to extract the data from the system. I'm more eager than anyone to post the data, because it supports what I have been saying all along.

How hard is it to install the RLS IC and pulley? Tools needed?
If it's not so complicated, I would like to do DIY.
