Here's some pics of my install - brackets were custom fabbed locally. I have not been to the dyno yet as I just got the car back today. Again this is in an 08 S240.

Cool! But why the custom fab? I thought RLS just bolted in the '07 -S?. Is the 240 different?

Our welder's facilities were flooded during the recent weather in the Midwest, John went ahead w/ a custom fab instead of waiting for the brackets from rls.

The rls bracket & hardware kit is a bit different than the way John's brackets were done, but they both work.

Our welder is back online now.

Looks like they did a beautiful job!

I think the best thing to do is wait for the Tom's custom bracket - it's really the right bracket that needs to be fabbed/modded. One of the best body shops in the country is a few miles from me (Karasserie) so I just had them do the whole shebang. There are several ways to skin this cat - the easiest is to use Tom's brackets/instructions. - john

p.s. I've driven it for about 3 hours today - no probs and the car is definitely faster... I will have numbers in a week or two.

p.p.s. Don't strip your hose clamps - they're very easy to strip. If you do you can get the exact same ones (NORMA 9mm 60-80mm grade W3 stainless) here:

They are shipping now, so that's the way to go.

Not to beat a dead horse, but AJ is right. Can we not see a stock ic to rls ic ONLY comparison (no pully change)?

My car has it's stock pulley - I think it topped out around 218whp with the stock IC (I posted the plots in this thread a while ago). I have not yet made it back to the dyno yet - probably in the next two weeks - john.

Ok , I really like Charlies new supercharger kit, AND I really like this intercooler setup. Can I use this ic with that sc? Any thoughts here would be greatly appreciated as I am ready to act on one or the other (hopefully both) asap.

I'm pretty sure your engine and ours are the same except for the SC hardware - can you tell by looking at my pics? - john.

any reason to anodize versus bare Al? Just to make the IC or pipes to look nice? I ordered mine non anodized. IIRC, the cup IC in non anodized as well.

Thomasio,

PM box is full. Great job on the intercooler. I am interested in a raw finish I/C for water injection. I will not be doing the water injection right away but want it for later. I could not find the price on the pulley though. Let me know what that cost and please put me in queue for an I/C at the least.

Main reason is anodizing gives it corrosion protection.

I ordered my pipes and IC non anodized. I will probably get them anodized after I get a few bungs welded in for temp probes and such.

What he said - aluminum is not as corrosion resistant as you may think - not as bad as iron or steel but it will pit over time. I ordered mine clear anodized which essentially looks like bare aluminum - john.

I'm travelling out of the country, will be back mid-July.

My Inbox fills up overnight, I'm probably going to disable it for now. Please feel free to e-mail me via Blackwatch Racing until I return from overseas. Pending and new orders will not be affected by my travel.

Thanks for your patience,

Thomas
