Neither of those are fuel caps. One is an electrical cut, the other is the pull for the fire extinguishers.

I don't think that's a US spec S260.

+1

That's a Cup260... not a street legal car in the US

all lotus fuel fillers are on the passenger side. They didn't relocate anything on that or other cup cars.

Latest word is the US will not get the Sport/Cup 260 for 2010. The Exige 240 will be offered in the US for 2010 along with the Elise Evora.

As far as Sport/Cup 260's go, it looks like the 15 2009's that made it here are it - at least they were street legal.

An all new Elise/Exige is planned for 2011 or 2012.

On a side note (sorry to derail):

Has anyone ever heard of someone retrofitting those onto an earlier model Exige or Elise? The function seems beneficial enough...

AZLotus,

You can fit both a fire system and a battery cut off to almost any car. Go for it .

Touché

I was thinking more along the lines of those exact parts? Although for the sake of limited production I'm not too sure you'd be able to find parts from a Cup 260 too easily?

My mind wanders.

You can fit those exact parts. They are not manufactured by Lotus and can be found even on the 'net .

How long you think you could leave such a car in the parking lot before someone dumps the extinguishers?

As far as I know, all the Cup cars (and possibly 211s) have those systems... and they've been building them for a few years now.

Actually, after thinking about it, I swear I saw some sort of locking "cap" in some of the 260 photos that would prohibit such tomfoolery. I want to say it was labeled "Remove for track use." over the top. Anyone?

Being picky, but the car's right is the driver's side. Fuel fillers are usually on driver's side around the world. Just makes it easier to get out and fuel. So happens that we in US are driving on the opposite side from the original car's design.
