Good luck, it is a great engine. We are debating the max rev for a built k24. K24 Piston speed at 8K matches that of the k20 at 9k so can't go too much higher. Good luck with your project!
thanks man, well mines is stock right now, the rev limter is set to 7400 on the kpro cause after that their was no more power, also around 7900 or 8200 thats where pistions meet the vavles so i gotta becareful, but i love the lotus elise and i wanted to put my engine in their, i also have a custom turbo kit with a gt3582r from garret, and turboed they push out some seriuos numbers, lotus is light and sexy looking (just like my girl lol), just wish their was some info or a kit for the k20 in the lotus elise, so i guess the s2 is the newer lotus, does the s2 mean the chasie number??

...S2 refers to the series two cars; basically the only elise/exige we've ever seen in north america...the earlier S1 cars used a completely different (and unrelated to honda) k-series powertrain manufactured by rover in the UK, and in fact the very first S2 cars produced for the european market carried over that same rover-series motor...

...when the car was federalised, an entirely different rear subframe and drivetrain assembly were developed to suit the 2ZZ-GE powertrain...this new toyota motor is a dramatic improvement over the older european rover-powered cars, and thus, even though there was substantial demand for honda k20 kits in the old lower-powered S1 markets, the 2ZZ-GE performs well enough that there's negligible demand to do the same engine swap on federal S2 cars - it's a disproportionately expensive proposition by comparison to building and boosting the 2ZZ-GE we already have for similar performance...

...ergo, no honda swap kits for our north american elise/exige, excepting a few incompetent scams...

The s1 or s2 are just series designations denoting a design change. That is why there are kits for the s1 it is an older model that had a crappy Rover motor (it was not sold in the US). The chassis however is a bit better on the S1 as it is not cut down to allow "lazy fat Americans" as they see it into our cars. My view is that you are on the correct path. Reduce the weight of your car and you will be shocked at the transformation in performance. Take a look at the Rotrex blower it is a perfect match for this car as torque builds, the power is linear, low heat, light weight etc. As was mentioned, a built 2zz is a much cheaper option and Ronin (a former member of Lotustalk) has done a great job putting a package together that solves the many problems that plague this motor. However, we have some more power to be gained and can easily hit the 500 mark with only 14 pounds of boost so I am with you on Honda power. You don't see many folks swapping 2zz's whereas Honda engines power Radicals, Atoms etc., etc., As the s2's become cheaper (given the availability of a reasonably priced kit) I think there will be a lot of folks looking to switch but this is just an opinion.

Let me know what you decide-

Cheers
i guess i just gotta play the waiting game

I think your car is bad ass and the fact that it is an epitome of the Lotus philosophy is what does it for me. Can't wait to get out West... going to come by and see your car once in the neighborhood if that's Ok.

I thought HRM was out of business but their site is up and one of the listed contacts is Mark Starr? So, perhaps they are back. How did you join those carbon panels? Love it!!
Mark Starr was 1 of the 2 owners of HRM, the other being Dave. I bought my S1 Sport 190 from Mark. When he and Dave had a falling out, Mark never went out of business, he just started working mobile (i.e., out of his car). I just met him at Hudson Historics to have a checkout done on an S1 Elise he's selling. I'll have to ask him about the website: who's running it, if he's gotten back together with Dave?

your going to have to add some support for that! (unless you want to rip the front clam off!)

I suggest you bracket it from the toe eye post lower bolts for starters.

For f*ck sake, dodn't you know by now I make splitters for this car?!? I can make you a carbon fiber/Kevlar/Balsa splitter for less than your piece of plywood.
