Sports cat

I have a 2008 Exige S 240 Sprint and im after a little bit more charactor from the exhaust and perhaps improving throttle response and releasing a few extra bhp.

I use the car everyday so dont want to increase boom or vibration inside the car, but would love a few more pops and crackles when lifting off.

Whats my best bet?

if i changed just the cat to a sports cat (perhaps larini, any other suggestions?) what difference would that make?

i dont think i can go for a decat as here in the uk it will fail the MOT.

I know there are a million threads out there on this subject, but i cant find aything specific to just changing the cat.

Thanks

want pops? = a different muffler
want responce? = a sport cat or header change

I would recommend PPE Sport cat because they have heat coat
but since your in UK maybe Larini then, and heat coat it.

I run Larini sport 6" and planning a Larini de-cat or PPE de-cat

btw, what is "Sprint" of S240? Mine is just S240 in Canada here

The Sprint was another limited edition Exige that came out which paid homage to the old Elan Sprint with a two-tone paint scheme. The bottom half was white - seperated by a gold stripe and was yellow or blue on top.

The US and Canada didn't get them.

Thats correct, mine is the yellow gold and white version. They only made 40 to mark the 40th yr of lotus.

If pops are dictated by the muffler, what is the best for that but without adding masses of drone and bass to the cabin? I hear a stage 2 (designed for NA cars) is quite loud on supercharged cars? what is the stage 3 like?

Thanks

Get a 2bular header, sport cat and GT3 exhaust (6 X 18) and you have exactly the sound and performance you want!

Stage 3 does have a little less drone than the stage 2 - you may find it to be a satisfactory compromise. The pops are controllable.

oh god I am in loved with those colors!
I think you should keep the car low mileage and in stock condition in order to attend some collector's car shows in 10 to 20 years maybe?

That is if you can resist driving it. (Its a LOTUS!)

If I am financially possible, I would buy the 2009 Lotus Elise SC Type 25 Jim Clark Ed. sitting in my local dealer and keep it for some years. Pretty sure they will be priceless in some years

I'm afraid I'm clocking up the miles fairly quickly,I can't stop driving it!

As for the exhaust,I find the standard one very quiet from inside the car, so wud accept a bit more drone if I did get the stage 3 in return for pops and more charactor,it's just a case of how much louder it is really. Most of the time I won't mind it being loud,it's just motorways at 80mph on light throttle I dont want too much drone.

is you want stock exit, there are exhaust like Larini SC and Stage 3 if you want quiet-er, usually ppl will buy Stage 2 since it is the sound and loudness you want after paying some $.

but if you want quiet above diffusor exit there is 8" larini sport

I am using 6" and I love it Love how ppl from far away already staring at my car coming and you can still them staring from your mirrors, thats thanks to Lotus but also Larini
