survey for carbon fiber parts

what would be the first 3 parts of the exige you would replace with carbon fiber, if you haven't already?

my picks:

wing
front splitter
side scoops

I'm never going to put a front plate on my Exige much like 99% of the owners out there so I was going to shave off the license plate bulge in the splitter (green overlay area) and then bring out the recessed area (red overlay area) to match the radius curve. I'd much rather buy a splitter already done as described above in carbon fibre than mess around with the fiberglass.

interesting idea... i wonder how many people would buy one... i'm sure enough tickets without a license plate would lead to something...

Nah, just a fix-it ticket every few years. I don't have one on any of my vehicles, not a big deal.

I'm sure a lot of Exige owners would like it if produced. Are you in the carbon fibre business bluejae?

Someone in San Diego should contact the folks at Benfer Performance - these guys do nice work and might be up for a small volume vehicle like the Exige/Elise.

None. I consider CF to be bling for street usage. Any weight savings will not make any real difference and definitely not cost effective.

If I need a front spoiler, etc. I'd much rather have a fiberglass (or urethane) one. CF tends to be brittle and would crack easily - fiberglass (and urethane) tends to be more flexible and more easily repaired. Besides being cheaper, and more practical.

Taking into account inteligent weight reduction I'd say

1) CF roof (on exige)
2) CF wing
3) Front Spliter

That reduces the front about 8 lbs and the back about 9 lbs

Should keep the Cg right were she is.
