I think the value of a 2006 Exige is determined largely by the cost of a 2007 Exige S. Assuming you want a supercharged Exige (maybe a big assumption, but without it is an Elise with a slightly different body), your cost differential to supercharge and consider warranty loss and depreciation is abut $20,000. Thus, it is difficult to get much past $40k (if that) for a 2006 Exige.

Huh? Cost to supercharge is about $5,000 with one of several kits offered by S111, BWR, TriPoint, etc.

What is the installed cost of a supercharger (and ecu, etc), plus the depreciation value of a 2006vs2007, plus the value of a warranty? Are these things not what constitutes the value difference between a 2007 Exige S and a supercharged 2006 Exige? I am saying these things total approximately $20,000. As always I could be wrong....

Oh, I see installed... that would certainly add to the price. Probably more like $7,000 to $8,000 installed. If it is dealer installed I'm not sure that it voids the warranty.

At any rate, I'd put the value at $10,000 but that's just me.

If a cost to install a supercharger is $8000, then you are saying the depreciation difference between a 2006 and a 2007 is only $2000? That just isn't the case....

Adding a supercharger will not increase the value of the car by the full cost of the supercharger. There are a lot of buyers who shy away from those types of modifications - especially knowing that the car was probably driven harder by that owner than by the one who made no large mods. This may not in fact be true, but it is what is perceived. I will not add a supercharger or make large mods to a car until I know that I am going to keep it for an extended period because it will likely narrow my market, and I won't get near what I put into it out of it.

I guess I'm not on the same page as you... thought we were talking about what it would take to make a 2006 like a 2007.

Cost about 8k to install. Voiding the warranty. No more warranty to a potential buyer? loss of about7-8k i would guess.

puts you around 16k.

BUT. No nobody goes and slaps a supercharger on for resale. People that add F/I to their cars. Likely keep them for at least 3+years. In which mileage or time would put it out of warranty anyhow.

Maybe market, maybe not - the price could have been a product of missing information.
I definitely agree about seeing more pics and the history of the car but the auction doesn't determine the value of all exiges. Had you (and potentially the other bidders) been comfortable with the history/condition of the car the auction might have met the reserve. It definitely surpassed the $36.5K that was suggested earlier. If it proves one thing, it's that even a questionable car in questionable condition can bring at least $38,100 on ebay (for whatever that's worth).

The LB Exige at $43k. . .

Was an anomaly. The week before I bought mine, there were 2 other NA Exiges I looked closely at before my LOWBALL offer was accepted.

I would have paid $42-$43k for either car. Each was slightly used, under warranty and had comparable options, plus desirable mods.

My vote: lower Exige NA pricing comes primarily from the one-year-later release of the Exige S, and the current economy.

Apologies for fueling this debate.
