Well, I don't think it looks that bad:

http://www.bodyshop-kobayashi.com/wide/wideindex.htm

It does say it's still under development on the Web site. If I remember correctly, they are pretty reputable. Back in the late 90's, they had a very nice taillight conversion kit for the Miata that I thought was one of the best looking ones.

EEEEEEK! Runningboards like the Bug I had in college! That thing is absolutely hideous! Looks like a bad kit car!

It makes the car look chunky. The wild lines of the car get muddled out by the kit that they become soft and 'fat'.
The Sport Exige does it right. Instead of adding bulk to the outside of the car, the width was added in the center.

retarded. Aside from the width, it looks like an embarassment of modicifation.

I looked quickly and thought it WAS the sport exige. whoops. the rear view really shows how the fenders were applied over the existing bodywork.

looks tacky to me.

But I like the lines of the Elise better than the Exige.

Like most of the Japanese aftermarket tuners, some parts are overdone. If they go with a more subtle front spliter, side skirts, and roof scoop, the car might just look more "European".

A bit overcooked for my tastes.

This is a bit more tasteful.

Someone just messaged me to ask if I'd seen this car,

http://www.bodyshop-kobayashi.com/wide/wideindex.htm

Said that it belongs to the skinny hot dog eating champ kid. :dunno:

Hedious!!!!!!!!!!! ...all that extra weight...as Colin Chapman said, performance through light weight

If you want a wide bodied Exige hang on in there as I believe Lotus could be working on one with 300bhp

There was actually a thing on MTV about competitive eating and Kobayashi was in it. He's actually very fit. He works out and lifts weights to build muscle to increase his natural metabolism. He even has his eating down to a science. In the show he sat down and ate 25 pounds worth of food. I can't remember what it was exactly but it was something around 3 - 4 LARGE plates of noodles and a chilli flavored ice cream cone the lenght of his waist to his head (give or take - but it was large).
He's gotten to the point where he's increased his tolerance for over eating. According to him, the reason why he can eat so much is because his stomach sits lower in his body, almost right above his intestines. And because of this, he's able to expand his stomach upwards, towards his ribcage, to make room for all the food.
He prepares for competitions by eating everything in sight one or two days before the event.

It kinda has the right idea, but it just doesn't pull it off. Now the Lotus Exige Sport race car takes everything to the next level.

I agree with fastliz ROTFL! That thing is horrible! There is no way it can compare to the sport exige.

What's sad is that this is a sign of things to come for our beloved elise. Every other idiot teenager will be putting these kits on their elises and ricing them out. I mean, we already saw the chromed out bling wheels!
