Would I fit?

ok. me and my dad are thinking about buying a lotus exige. we both are tall, I am about 6'1 and my dad is 6'3. we both are about 230lbs. I am going to go see one in about a week, heading over to atlanta to see some and my birthday is friday so just wandering, i personaly dont drive a "weekend" car for comfort, but for fun so if anyone can tell me how well i might fit i would greatly appretiate it. I think a Ladybird The Exige Owner's Worst Nightmare would be a better fit for you.

If you still want an Exige, rest assured that you would not be the smallest owner.

Before you rush off and try to squeeze yourself into one, ask the salesman to both explain and demonstrate the best entry/exit technique and listen to and watch him very closely. If your salesman happens to be a beautiful woman, that may come naturally.

- you are a BMI of 30.4, and you are NOT big-boned - so don't kid yourself, you are obese.

But I am also 6'1" and was also obese.
However I have lost some weight, so now I am now longer in the obese category.
It is easier to get out of the car when you lose some weight.
Might be better to lose the weight first - because you'll have more of a goal.

Pops is just overweight, but 6'3" is also tall, and if he is long torsoe'ed or long legged then there still could be some fit issues.

You two would certainly be shoulder to shoulder, as myself and the wife are pretty cosy and we are in the high-normal range. But the cabin is always cosy, and on my first ride it reminded me of a spaceship - even though I have never been in one. And everything is laid out at finger tip reach and very ergonometric.

I know where you are coming from, and you'll fit if you want to.
You also lose that weight if you really want to, but that will take some time.

Well thanks for the smart alec comments there. i's do need languag help two sow thanx 4 tat. Fags. Oh yeah and muscle weighs more than fat by the way. I play football so i guess it comes naturaly. The main reason i dont like mustangs, is just because i dont like the people that own them. I'm starting to feel the same way about lotus owners. A simple "yeah, you'll fit" or a "it will be tight", would have been just fine. Thanks for the people that tried to give me an answer though.

We really can't tell you if you fit based on height and weight. We would need proportions. Break out the tape measurer and gives us figures.

I am 6'2" and 270 lbs and I fit beautifully, but fitting is one thing and getting in is another. Is pops nimble?

As for the car they are really quite small as you have heard. The entry and exit are the most difficult thing to accomplish especially if the top is on the car. Hope that you can find time to check one out along with your Father. If you lived closer I'd personally let you test mine for yourself. Good luck with your endeavors.. Be safe..

OK, I hope you aren't serious. BMI is the biggest load of baseless crap ever. You cannot possibly know the amount of fat content a person has based on merely HEIGHT & WEIGHT, and if you aren't measuring fat content, you aren't measuring obesity. With some proportions, such as neck width, you can have a better understanding, but it still isn't very telling.

I suppose you are assuming a normal built individual. Some individuals are muscular and work out regularly. How does your BMI account for that ever-so-common variable? It doesn't.

Im 6 feet 240 and i get in and out fine it just takes practice to figure out how to position your body

Thanks guys for the comments, I look forward to test driving one. all i can hope for is that it is all that expect it to be. We have a 1999 dodge viper gts and its pretty hard to fit into it, so trust me, ill make myself fit into it however i need to.


Question: how long is it between the floor board and the bottom of the door. Like how low do you sit in the car.

Unless you have an abnormally shaped body (e.g. very long legs, etc), you'll fit fine. I'm 6'4 and fit in with a helmet on. (Barely, but close only matters with issues of marriage and hand grenades)

You may want to consider a removable steering wheel to make getting in/out easier, so long as you don't mind ditching the airbag, which is generally safer for taller folk.

Getting in and out of a Viper is a slightly easier, though very similar experience.

You sit very low in the car.

You will fit. But if you and your dad are in the car at the same time, the car will bring you closer together.

That's funny...I had such a hard time getting in and out of Viper because you have to climb over the WIDE sill, whereas the Elise just has a tall sill.

Your butt will be about 2" from the floor board.

I know what you are saying, the exhaust makes it a killer while wearing shorts after a long ride. but no dought about it, when you get in there, your IN THERE!

I actually was trying to be helpful - try reading my post again without emotion.

I got in OK, and it is fact that getting out is easier with less weight.
Luckily for you, your weight is less than what I started out with - so you'll be fine.
If you're all muscle then you'll certainly have no problem.

Also if you have big/wide feet, then you'll need driving shoes.
Best to get them straight away - the pedals are very close together.

Being 6'2" and 237 pounds I fit rather well. I have had to lower the drivers seat & angle it slightly different. At the ripe old age of 64 getting in and out is not to bad without the roof on. With the roof on it is a chore, but living in Florida I can drive most of the time without it. It also helps to open the roof and fold it back towards the center as the door opening is rather small. I wear a size 13 shoe and have more pedal space than in my Mini Cooper S. A removable steering wheel would be a great help.

The best advice is to try it with the roof both on and off and have your father in the car at the same time as they are narrow for us big people.
