There are at least 3 Exiges sitting on show room floors in the bay area as well.

I have to agree. I think the base Exige makes sense in markets where they have the lesser Elise, but we effectively have the 111R and to upgrade from that, most of use want at least an Exige S. Even the Sport Elise is going to have a tough time here.

Seems like Lotus is make some marketing mistakes with the follow on cars in the US.

Stop farting around and bring the Exige S here for crying out loud.

Are there any markets where they only sell the lower powered Elise's?

Not that I'm aware of; I wasn't implying that.

I would contend that the reason for Exiges sitting on dealer lots is that most people seeking a track purpose car like this want the Track Pack, and since it appears that many Exiges were delivered without the Track Pack installed, even though they were invoiced this way, turned off many potential buyers. Heck, I found this to be the situation at two different dealers in the Bay Area, and had to go all the way to Seattle to find mine.

IMHO an Exige without the track pack is a conradiction of terms. I was looking for either an Elise with Sports Pack, Track Pack and Traction Control or an Exige with Track Pack and Traction Control in Ardent Red or Silver. Tried to place an oder and was told that since Lotus has plenty of unsold Loti on port, they were not accepting new orders. Finally, I just placed and order for the Lotus Sports Elise. standard options: Sports Pack, Track Pack, traction control and Hard Top. I am not crazy about the color and stripes or the hard top but looked like the only viable way to get a Track Pack with Traction Control without LSD.

Ouch. That's not a good way of doing business. Was this the dealerships response or Lotus' response?

Regarding the Elise, I was told so. I did not explore ordering the Exige. Also, I did not want to order an 07 Elise (at least the option was offered to me) since I am concerned about the probable weight increase of crash protection of some form.

Orders and production for '06 Elises were halted a while back.

Does that also hold true for '06 Exiges?

Not so far as I've been told.

The shipments do seem to have slowed to a trickle though.
