2 Wicked is alive! And it is fast

I finally have my car back and I am happy with the final results. The car makes 355hp to the rear wheels with 280ft/lb of torque. It is incredible how fast the car is! It is set up with a boost controller so that if I turn it off completely, it will run about 11psi of boost and that works very good for the autocross course. At that boost it is around 300whp.

I then have a low boost setting where it will run around 13-14psi and then high boost which is reserved for special occasions such as a Viper, ZO6, or ZR1 Vette pulling up next to me. I haven't had the opportunity yet but I am waiting.

I have some new rubber on the car and it looks MEAN! I am running Rota Torque 18X8.5 rear rims with 255/35/18's and 17X7.5 fronts with 215/40/17's. The tires are the Dunlop Star Spec. The tires do not rub and work great with the power. I know that many of you are into light weight rims etc, but this combination works well with the additional power and looks incredible!

I autocrossed it for the first time this past weekend in a 2 day event. I was a little worried as I only had very limited time in the driver's seat as I just got it back. I had only driven the car a handful of times prior to racing and I used to have a M3 so this was completely different. Well, my first day out I pulled the second fastest time of the day out of about 70 cars. I was beaten by a full race Miata that a father son team has been racing for years. They always get the fastest time of the day. It is gutted out, is about an inch off the ground, full suspension, supercharged, and running super wide race slicks.

Well, the second day we had some more entries including a Viper, some more Vette's etc. I took them all once I learned to drive the Lotus including the race prep Miata. I had fastest time of the day the second day by 1/2 a second! Everyone was amazed with the car. I did that on street tires and drove it home. I am very pleased! I could have killed any one of them in a straight line as well!

I call B.S.:
a) I haven't heard of any 355whp elise turbo kits. The highest horsepower turbo I'm familiar with is Ronin's.
b) There is no way you posted the fastest time of the day on those tires, having not driven the car much before. Unless you are a wicked fast driver. In which case you'd be winning in your region in a Lotus anyway. That much whp would not really help for autocross, it would only be a liability. Unless you car is totally designed around the horsepower, like Fred's national champion XP monster.

The tranny, diff., and axel can't handle that much torque for very long.

That kind of bragging you gotta back up with some evidence like
1) dynograph
2) video
3) link to results from autocross

IF what you claim is true, then MAD props. But I'm not convinced, yet.

Pretty sure "the" turbo kit... from FF, comes with a standalone EFI, thus making the car self tunable.

Well I will give you details on the car. I can tell you that this is no BS. I have been in a lot of fast cars and this car is very fast! I also know that some of you may flame me for this as well, but I plan to run it through the quarter mile as well to see what it will do. I am convinced it will run mid to low 11's but again, I will have to see. I am certain that it is faster than my old Kawasaki Z1000 crotch rocket motorcycle and that was no slouch. Matt from Monkey wrench posted a preliminary dyno for the car on this site and it is on the thread, "tuning for turbo power."

First of all, The car was originally a Hass turbo kit. Yep, that is right...Hass. Now, when I got the car it didn't run for crap but after numerous months at Monkeywrench racing and many changes, the car is finally right. The car no longer runs the Greedy emanage, he used an AEM engine management on the car as well as the following upgrades:

Upgraded clutch
European trans (better gearing for the turbo power) it will run 50+mph in 1st gear so I didn't have to shift at all for the autocross. It will pull over 80mph in 2nd and hit 120+in 3rd and it gets there FAST!
Limited slip diff.
It has a custom header replacing the previous log manifold
Upgraded GT2871R turbo
new valves
Mahle forged "drop in" pistons
Custom 3inch exhaust

I have asked Matt for the most recent dyno as it pulls a little more torque in the midrange than the initial dyno that he posted. I will be happy to post it if he emails it to me like he is supposed to.

I do not think the event results are posted as of yet, but they should be fairly soon. The event took place at the auto auction on this past weekend. It was the first event of the year. This is the only West Michigan Club at this time as the West Michigan SCCA really is not putting on events any more. This was not a national event but I was still pretty proud to bring home the fastest time of the day especially since many of the other cars used race tires. Believe it!

The car handled great with the tires, like it or not. I knew that a lot of people would not agree but it works, I didn't rub, and the results speak for themselves. The car stuck good and it was smooth and fast. I would have for sure been faster with race tires but I didn't need them. Best of all, it looked great doing it! Everybody was talking about my car and asking to ride with me. I do have a short video from the sidelines but I have not watched it myself yet. I will see if I can download it and get some pictures in the next couple days for all of you. Be patient, I will get them.

By all means post some 1/4 mile times. Best I've ever been able to pull is 11.2 seconds in my corvette. I haven't taken the lotus drag racing since the SC.

The results are now up if you go to the link. See the West Michigan Auto Auction Final results. I am in Street Mod 2 or now called the SMM class. Look under Derek B. Lotus and it will give the times. You will see that I am not full of BS. On 5-17 I had the FTD and on 5-16, I was second (that was my first time driving). They did change the course slightly on 5-17 compared to the previous day.

They also have some random event photos from some of the cars. There was only one picture of my car and the picture was from the first day when I had it all taped up as I was worried about cones. I just took the tape off and didn't worry the second day. I probably will not get a chance to drag race it for a month or so since I am getting married in two weeks but I will. I am hoping to pull low 11's on the street tires. I guess I will see.

I forgot, it is the Toyota LSD that actually comes in the Euro trans. It seems to work very well and I love the taller gears. I know that the taller gearing will actually make it quicker in the quarter mile since it has so much power and it is nicer on the highway. At 80mph I am only at 3000rpm in 6th.

We do have the Euro trans (C64 versus the US C60) and the only difference is the 6th gear ratio is a little lower (higher numerically). Some have changed the 6th gear for the US one for better cruising or higher speed, if they have the power.

Congrats!!! I know you've been struggling trying to get up and running and I'm glad it's working out. Just a warning be easy driving the car, the trans won't last forever about the 300whp mark.

Here are some pitures of the car and wheels on it. I just took them in my garage so they are not the best photos but you get an idea. I also have a short video of the car at the autocross that I will try to post. It sure is a lot faster when you are in the vehicle. Anyway, I hope it works.

My wheels still need wheel emblems that will be coming in the future. I want ones to match the stock yellow and green emblems. I tried to attach the video but could not get it to work. Here is the info on the Euro transmission from Monkeywrench. It is not any stronger than stock but the gearing is a lot better for a more powerful car. Also, the stock 6th gear in the lotus is actually lower geared than even the Celica so you see a huge difference in cruising RPM on the highway. My car now cruises at 3000RPM at 80mph and has a theoretical top speed of over 220mph. I believe that with the stock transmission it would probably top out at around 170mph at redline. Because of the gearing, I was also able to complete the autocross course in 1st gear. On a larger faster course, second gear will be fine as it is good to over 80mph. The car no longer needs the close ratio gears and is faster with the longer gearing now that it has so much power.

This is a very special transmission. It will bolt right up to any 1ZZ or 2ZZ engine and is specially modified by MWR so that it may be installed in any 00+ Celica or 05+ Lotus Elise or Exige. No adapters or custom work of any kind are required for the installation. Works with stock or aftermarket clutches and flywheels, stock or aftermarket shifters, stock shifter cables, stock axles.

You get a factory fresh 6-speed with TRD's trusted helical limited slip differential already installed! Add up the cost of any other new or used 6-speed, LSD and LSD install and you can see that this is a steal.

Note: Axle ratio is 3.941:1 rather than 4.529:1 found in US-model Toyota ZZ 6-speeds. This means that it is a very usable transmission for street driving and that it works excellent with forced induction. Revs are considerably lower on the highway than they would be with a Celica/Lotus or Matrix transmission (~3100 rather than 3600 at 80mph) so fuel economy is noticeably better. Most people find that because of the Celica's and especially the Lotus's light weight there is very little penalty in acceleration times even for naturally aspirated cars. There can actually be an acceleration advantage for forced induction cars because the lower gears are much more usable and less shifting is required.

Note: this transmission requres use of the selector shaft from your old 6-speed transmission. It is very easy to swap over. If you do not have an old 6-speed transmission then contact us and we can arrange to sell you a reasonably priced used selector shaft.
