I have a std PPE header with the bigger runners, not 3" though.

Last Tue i finally went to my car again, sitting in the parking lot of the company who arranges the whole import procedure, to fix the rough idle (didn't had the time in US to do that). Two surprises:
1. Front clam damaged during transport, so bye bye deductible assuming that insurance company will not try to deny the claim.
2. Elise doesn't start, although it did start when they drove the car out of the harbour to the garage. Tried to jumpstart the car by connecting to another (big) battery, didn't work. The battery appears OK, so something else is wrong. Car will now go to a nearby local Lotus garage.

In addition i can't get my new laptop to connect to the EFI using a USB--> RS232 cable, even after reading Phil's instructions how to do it, so that was fun also. Maybe the cable is f-ed up because i tried it with 2 laptops w/o succes. So now i'm hoping to resurrect my old laptop which died, because that old laptop did connect to the EFI w/o problems in the US.

Front clam damage too? Grrr, that's stinks

Don't sweat the car not starting. Given the world record speed install, it doesn't surprise me that it might need a little help. First check your fuses. Seems like the coil fuse will pop from time to time if you're jump starting or cranking for a long time.

You may need a different serial->usb converter. I'm by no means a computer guru, but I have found that those converters are not all created equal. Once you get her hooked up, upload that new firmware first and then the map I sent out and she should tick right over unless something just "ain't right". You should be able to identify if anything isn't right buy looking at your data controls on the lap top. Call me or Kris if you need anything. You know we're always happy to help

Best,

Phil

If something ain't worth doing right, it ain't worth doing...

Whoever thought working on a Lotus is hard, clearly hasn't tried it. Pick up a wrench and get some grease under your nails

i believe it's TRD shipping or something like that. probably some idiot drove the car off the ship too fast, hitting the road and there you go...
on the positive side, my old laptop appears to work again, so I'll copy the new map from Phil and the firmware update to my old laptop which works OK w/EFI.
