I don't think anyone is being a fanboy. Instead, many are baffled as to why a N/A tune would be used with a supercharger. It's a valid and honest question/concern.

Tune comparisons

I have been giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are unaware that PES is selling a bad tune and unless it's discussed in an open forum more motors will suffer the same fate!
I was hoping the experts at PES could help you out on Charlies thread about the differences and why they used an N/A tune vs a S/C tune!
Clearly, you don't have better things to do with your time. We've had a couple issues early on that have been resolved. We are not alone here. Katana runs rough when cold

We are not the marketing machine our competitors are, clearly. Let's be clear CharlieX's thread is marketing. Our kit has a "S/C tune", thanks.

Over and out for the 4th weekend!

Whiskey, enjoy your car!

Once again you have avoided any concerns/questions and Rough Cold start issues are on N/A cars as well! Lotus even had a reflash to address the issue!
Can you clarify something for me? when you say you have a "S/C tune" are you referring that your tune is based off the Lotus Supercharger tune or that PES has altered the Lotus N/A tune? I am still a bit fuzzy on that one - Please clear that one up!

Environment is getting a little shameful around here...

I've decided to go F/I on my '05 Elise, not turbo but S/C'd. With that said, there's little choice as to different set-ups...mostly the BWR and the Sector111 Katana (I would love a Procharger or Rotrex but I'm not interested in re-inventing the wheel...the Lotus is not one of "those" cars for me). The tuning comes down to two different entities...PES and CharlieX.

When I examine the two different camps... Katana/CharlieX and BWR/PES, I notice two very different approaches to marketing. The one I notice more is often embroiled in "flames", debates, insults, and actions that lack integrity and class....mostly not even by the company themselves but the supporters and fanboys; sad, I've nothing against S111, I've bought several of their products and respect Shinoo for his work. And so here comes my rub... I will never purchase anything, knowingly, that is associated with Frank/Ronin or CharlieX. Shame that Charlie is pulled into this but when you sleep with dogs you awake with fleas, and you are certainly judged by the company you keep...the vague insinuations of his "help" he offers in the forums is also self-serving and indicative of a lack of integrity and poor taste. I will not support anyone like that.

Not a S/C tune? Is the motor a S/C motor? Do we run S/C fuel? Perhaps I should fill my tires with S/C air, as that may save my tires from phantom ills... Most N/A vehicles that are converted to F/I run on the N/A tunes. Is there an issue wit the N/A tune besides lower resolution? HOw much lower is the resolution? What are the downsides? You think that may be important info to share?

I've no benefit here, no stock or allegiance with anyone... it's just sickening to see the same rhetoric vomited out, over and over with the same fanboys jumping up in the background with mindless support.

Keep this garbage over on the rolling Ronin-stroking/Charlie-advertisement forum of MonkeyClowns and circle-jerks.

Be good,
TomK

Unintended casualty of all this mud-slinging

I normally wouldn't weigh in on this issue as I don't have a S/C, but I wanted to make an observation.

I WAS planning on getting an S/C later this summer for a Fall/Winter install project.

But with both camps (BWR & Ronin/Katana) on LT and MM casting aspersions on each other, making claims that may be true or false, unproven or unproveable, and otherwise making a decison confusing, I have decided to pass on an S/C.

I am beyond caring who is right or wrong, who has a better unit, whose tune is more perfect, why engines blow up or don't, who can use more swear words and insults in a single sentence, etc.

I am just disappointed that the incriminations and recriminations have driven me away as a potential customer. I guess I'm what you would call "collateral damage".

Regards,
Wayne

Wayne - I really understand your frustration. I don't know why there is this battle going on.

HOWEVER - don't deprive yourself of supercharger joy as a result of these frustrations. I believe both are fine products which will make you happy. Just find an installer you trust and use his recomendation - or - just pick one, put it on and don't look back.

You will LOVE the end result either way.

Best Wishes -

Wayne,

You sent me a few months ago an amazing "LOTUS SPORT 240R" to put on my supercharger intake...I want to thank you again, it's absolutely PERFECT!
Please, go on with your SC project, you're gonna love it...

Regards

BWR

Let me start off by saying I'm no one’s nut-swinger/fan boy... I'm just a guy looking for more power at a good price... I was looking for a good supercharger kit which was between BWR and Sector. I purchased the BWR kit because Sector's was out of stock at the time. Fred was also really cool to deal with. A buddy and I installed the kit within two days with the cam on! Relocating the alternator was the hardest part.

Anyway, so far car has been running great. I have put almost 3K miles on the car with the supercharger (car now has 10K miles on odo). Lately I've been hearing people having trouble with the tune and blown motors which got me a little nervous.

So I went to the dyno today and did a few runs. Do you guys see anything that should be alarming??

I'm in Fresno, CA where it's been almost 100 degree's everyday this summer. It was 85 in the shop when I did the runs.

Wow Dave, it was 85F? That's like Phoenix at 4am..... Our dyno day 110F! Thanks for the kind words. Anyway, looks great! A/F get up to 12.8 or so when the cam changes over and you have some air inrush, this is normal. Very little timing there. Still very safe. Great power! Do enjoy it!

Those graphs look pretty damn good, and what I hope to run very soon.
This is with a PES tune?

thanks,
TomK

Yes, Tom it is. Pretty amazing given the smear campaign some fan-boys have be waging. We just build stuff to make your car go faster. Leave the middle-school drama to others.

I think PES has the middle school drama market cornered as of late and they're doing you no favors.

hp number scale on the left of the graph; torque on the right. The numbers are the same at 5252.

That's awesome, Fred. I spoke with Sherman yesterday and it looks like I'll be mounting the BWR charger very soon. I'll mount up the water/meth injection and then head down to PES for a custom tune and see what can really be done - with a little more boost from a smaller pulley and the cooling of the meth/waterinjection, I think we may be able to hit 250... that's the plan.

Speak to you soon,
TomK

Trust me, it will be getting hotter next week.. Glad to hear things are ok...

I'm getting ready to either install a turbo or supercharger upgrade with an intercooler! If anyone is developing a kit, let me know!
