If I wanted something as complicated as iDrive I would have bought a BMW. I don't see this product being practical for lotus owners. We bought are cars to drive them, not turn them into iPhones.

All I am looking for is three simple gauges that I can see while driving on and off the track. Last thing I want to do is go:

Whats my oil preasure? Oh I am not on the right screen, tap tap tap ...

(mean while not looking at the road I have hit the wall...)

Saw this picture recently, i believe it is someone on the forum. Might not be a bad solution:

(look just under the HVAC unit area.)

These are the ones what have the link controller or something close to that?

If i could find a gauge which is white back and light up red like the stock cluster that would be cool. The Defi gauges seem cool but a little but more than I need, I just want something simple. It would be great if I could find something that flashed as a warning if say the oil pressure dropped but I don't think I am going to find that on something simple.

Did you even watch the video? It can display up to 6 variables at once in one screen. Let's see a plx gauge do that.

Here is a simple DIN mount for 3 gauges. Has anyone tried these gauges, GLOWSHIFT?

I was driving today, holding my arms to the steering wheel how I usualy do, and I noticed that my arm blocks my view exactly where the BWR gauge mount would go So if I went that route not only would I have to take my eyes off the road but I would also have to remove one hand from the wheel.

Hi Ben,
I hold my arms mostly at the 3 and 9 positions (as on a clock), with my elbows down and I have no problem seeing the gauge cluster.

I do have to take my eyes off the road, but I have to do the same when looking at the main gauges.

When changing gears, I have to take my hand off the wheel, so that's also a good time for a quick glance as nothing is blocking my line of sight.

Since I know where the readings on the gauges should be, I'm only looking for a reference point as indicated by the bright red needle. Very easy and fast to pick up at a glance.

After several weeks with the gauges, I wish I had put them in earlier.

Regards,
Wayne

I have a Volt gauge, and oil temp meter in the BWR lower mount.

They're not gauges that I constantly need to stare at, though a boost gauge and oil pressure gauge I would probably place in my middle vents, since those would be better to constantly monitor.

fwiw, I think it's nice to have a oil press gauge but it's one of those things thats too late once it goes low.. only benefit is to data log it and see where it's going lower than other places on track..

I think the best gauge out there is using an aftermarket dash.. with it all combined into one display..

Since I like to see the gage, I just buy a two gages plastic for a Mustang at Summit Racing, cheap and nice. The plastic is as cheap as the original Lotus dash...

Look like it supports a Toyota with the 2ZZ but does not list any Lotus support. What is nice about this is you can log data but only 15 minutes. The disadvantage of normal gauges is that they will not record low or high points. So, if you are in a carousel and your oil pressure drops, you won't normally notice it since you are paying attention to driving. With this, you can review a session to oil pressure drops or oil temp spikes.
