What about a custom exhaust that would exit only out the pass side and have a really short straight muffler, if any. We could put a barrier to keep the heat away. Then on the drivers side we could mount an A/A IC, pull the air from under the car through it and out the back center of the car. I am not sure if it could fit, but I wonder if that could work. I remember seeing an NSX with this setup and twin A/A IC. Just a crazy idea.

just use your rear storage compartment for it in that case.

This is a great idea, the only downside is the change in aerodynamics of the car. I'm pretty sure it would not be an ideal case. You would be pulling in air underneath the car, but you would only notice it at high speeds if at all.
