Smile Just got my Katana supercharger installed!!

WOO-HOO!! Picked it up Tuesday night. It's doing great!

I have been driving my wife around for over a year (spiritedly) in my stock '06 Elise. Yesterday, I took her for a ride in the upgraded version (+53whp). I SCARED her! She said, "am I going to have a near-death experience every time I get in this car with you?!" Then my stepson, age 24, an ultimate fighter, said "That just makes your heart pound really fast!" It was a good Thanksgiving.

Fox Valley Motorcars in W Chicago did the install. While the car was in, they also put in a shift reinforcer, which is worth it, by the way, and replaced the StarShield on the rocker panels and where the front license plate would go (over my dead body!)

All I can say is that this car is DRAMATICALLY more fun, with smooth, urgent power all the way up, and the supercharger sounds nice - you can definitely hear it, but it's not an overpowering sound in the cabin. The performance difference is HUGE. Acceleration-wise, it's a totally different car. It was SO worth it.

Now I don't have to worry about some of those Evos, Mustang GTs, etc., giving me a run for my money.

A friend suggested I have a bigger throttle body put in for some more hp - anyone have any ideas about that?

And does anyone have any other words of wisdom about subtle ways I should treat my car differently now that I have the blower in it?

Looking forward to feedback and questions...

I saw your car while my car was at FVMC. Awesome feedback. I am just biding my time and saving pennies for this mod.

TJ showed me your car and its a very nice setup!

[edit] the RTV / RTD brace would go great with the katana mod. [/edit]

Why did I have a feeling TJ would post in this thread?

So the Katana is available for '06s?

How do you feel about the loss of Lotus warranty due to the Katana?

Thanks!

Thanks for the review! What did the kit cost, installed and out the door? What is the shift reinforcer for?

we charge $1895 for the install. i am not sure what the cost of the kit is you can refer to sectors web site for that information.
the shift reinforcer helps reduce the flexof the shifter gate for more positive shift engagement. it really stiffens the gate nicely.

The cost from S111 was $5545. Plus install at FVMC (those guys are great! AWESOME service dept) brings the total cost to about $7500.

Loss of warranty: Big fat bummer. Just kidding - I don't even care.

Yeah - good setup - you almost have to search for the supercharger - at first glance, the engine looks pretty much stock. But it sure doesn't FEEL stock!!

And I love my car color combo - it's the only one I've seen like it. White is rare, and the few other white ones I've seen on the web all have black or charcoal interior. Mine looks like a sports car dressed up in a tux.

Shift reinforcer was recommended NOT because of the blower, but because sometimes the shifting feels a bit mushy d/t something being loose under the shift lever, so it moves with you a bit when you shift. It is definitely more crisp now. More certainty.

twaszak1 really knows his stuff - TJ, I trust you and value your opinion highly. Thanks for talking over everything with me and explaining stuff well. Which leads me to my next question: What about the throttle body? What about a different pulley?

as far as the throttle body and the pully...i honestly havent heard anything about either of them. so i am as curious as you are. i can only imagine you would have to pull the ECU and have charlie map it again for the mods to work properly. if i understand properly even the reprogrammed ECU wont relearn things....but mabey charlie can chime in and let us know for sure.

i always appreciate the kind words and stand by my word of if you need anything please dont hesitate to call or e-mail me.
we at FVMC couldnt do what we do without our great customers.

Hey, great news. been saving up for this install myself and watching the boards here...my question is about the 53whp. Seems like a lot outta this blower? thought it was closer to 35 - 40. What are the deets here? I'd be thrilled with the 53... didnt think we could expect that much. u got the new dyno? thanks.

Don't mess with the throttle body and intake systems yet. If you do the car will need additional tuning. Just enjoy the car as it is. We will see what our stage II and III bring as far as those components.

Glad you like the supercharger... be safe.

Yes all is ok, we're working on CARB approval at the moment, waiting to go back in to do the final trimming.

Of course you might not care about that Blacktan.

One more reason I am selling a lot of my Lotus Elise extras. I was trying to decide between supercharging my Pontiac GTO (already at 400 rwhp) and my Elise. Reading threads like this makes the decision easy.
