Leaking Oil Around Fittings
I just got done installing my ForcedFed 275 turbo kit. There seems to be some oil leaking from around some of the fittings. There is small leak at the T that goes into the bung where the oil pressure sender was, where the turbo oil supply line and oil pressure gauge lines are connected. There also seems to be a small leak where the oil return line connects to the moroso oil pan. Also, I should mention that these leaks occur when simply priming the oil to about 15 - 20 PSI. I used high temp silicone sealant on all fittings and torqued them pretty tight. Could it be that I overtorqued all these fittings, causing them to leak? Is there something else I could have done wrong? Does anyone know what the torque specs for these types of fittings should be? If I loosen the fittings a bit, should that fix the problem? Or are they likely permanently damaged now, and I will have to buy all new fittings? I appreciate any help. This was my first time doing this kind of thing. Thanks!

I actually figured out the problem. It seems that the fittings were hitting each other in the T and did not want to tighten all the way. What I had to do was grind down the fittings a little being careful not to destroy the threads. I sealed it up with yellow teflon tape and have not had any oil leaks. My forcedfed car is now running, and I have to say it sounds much nicer than my car did with the stage 2 exhaust.

Good to hear. Are you running the standard through the diffuser exhaust that the kit came with?

Yes, i'm using the standard exhaust that came with the kit. I imagine i will not have to trim the diffuser to fit it since the stage 2 exhaust has decent sized tips as well. I'll mount that up today and see. I should have it in driving order tonight.

Yes, she's working really well. No leaks at all, and no signs of boost leak. Haven't tried pushing her yet since I figured it might be good to let the turbo go through a couple heat cycles first. But I still get to hear the lovely blow-off valve going off behind my head

Thanks... Well, I have only experienced the Stage 2 exhaust, since I bought my car with the Stage 2 exhaust installed. I can tell you that it's a deeper throatier sound than that exhaust. And it's a bit quieter, not quite as obnoxious. The BOV is somewhat loud (you can hear it pretty good from cabin) but not quite as loud as the articles about the kit made it appear to be. It's not loud to the point of annoying anyway. Anyway, I am overall pleased with how it sounds, next step is to see how it operates under aggressive driving.

Now that I'm not sure. Of course, you dont hear the BOV when idle at a light though
The trained ear could probably still tell it's turbo.

Hey Madberries, you can change your signature to just "FF 275" and get rid of the "on the way part".
Oh, and also, if you could cut back on referring to your car as "her" and "she," I would really appreciate it. I'm trying to train everyone on Elise Talk not to do it since it bothers me. And we all know it is not good to bug Stephen. Thanks!

That is funny. In Virginia, everyone does that, but with the influx of AOL, MCI, and every other tech company, that is slowly changing. ![]()
