Lotus Exige S with Vision Function Supercharger

I didn't find anyone who had done this before. I did look, so please no trolls telling me to search.. I didn't see anything that worked for me.

I'm used to cars like Evo's, Honda's, or 300zx's so Lotus is till a little new. I have been looking for something to up my HP on my 07 Exige S. I came across the Vision Function Supercharger kit boasting 280Hp on the builds with Exige's and Elise's. The sale guy said the fitment would be the same and to expect the same power.

The only downside to this is obvious, cost, I already have a supercharger on the car so I'm wondering if 6300 plus 1000 to install this is worth it... or if theres a better way. I should be going up from 220hp to 275-290 according to the clerk. Theres just not much for the 07 Exige S's I'm finding.

So plain and simply what do the people who have this kit think of it?

Is there a cheaper option to up the HP on the 07 Exige S? Or to at least add to it a little bit after installing the SC. Parts seem to be scarce for the S

And lastly, would anyone want to buy my stock parts that I discard after installing this. PM me if so.

Hopefully you guys get back to me because I'm not really waiting around. Money in hand for the kit so I'll probably be ordering it whenever they open back up in the morning and getting it installed the day after receiving the parts.

Thanks Guys!

Just get Charlie's tune. It will get you close enough. No need to swap out all the parts.

Yea, I'm looking some more now, I noticed this guys car.

Mod Snob

Its an exige S with a charlie's gothic tune, RLS IC and full open exhaust+ KN intake filter. Not quite 7300$'s like my above build and boasts 300hp... This seems like a better choice.

Just call Jermaine at VF. I'm sure you can buy the entire kit minus the SC since it's the same model anyway.

Pretty sure Shay has a custom Charlie tune to go with that header/exhaust setup of his. I could be wrong though. Wouldn't be the first time.

Thats strange, I was looking at the turbo that they use for the upgrade. Its an MP62... isn't this the stock supercharger?

Edit... Already answered that one it seems. Thanks

VF kit is MP62. I'm at stage3 putting down 292rwhp. Different dyno than the one they use, but I'm happy with the results.

Go here.

goth.am webstore!

That is Charlie's site.

He has a dyno listed for the basic tune. You should speak to him about custom stuff too.

Nice on the 292.

Just making sure, the stock supercharger is an MP62 correct? Seemed like we jumped around that one sorta. Just being cautious since this is my first time really doing anything with Toyota or a Supercharger honestly.. I'm a turbo guy.

I found the goth.am website and the 2bular site. I'm looking to get everything I want in a package to be honest.

I know its lazy, but I'm a package kinda guy. The VF kit says after IC/Intake/Injector/Tune/ect ect it puts down 275-290 depending.

As far as getting a custom tune maybe its something I could look into when I wanna pop on a catless exhaust with the VF setup. or larger IC if possible.. not sure.

Either way I do appreciate your patience with me guys, I know I'm asking questions that have been answered now.

Yikes, the more reading i do the more confusing this gets. I'll have to ask the guys a few questions.

Its looking as if modifying the car myself would be the better option since i have the S model.

The kit includes a Side mount IC which utilizes a CAI. This pretty much makes the roof scoop on the exige useless...hmm.. I guess I need to do more reading.

If you have an Exige S, you already have the foundation. I wouldn't buy a kit. If I install a 3.1" pulley, I'll be at VF stage 2 power level and that's a slight increase in boost. I'm making ~265whp on stock boost, injectors and fuel pump. (I'll know for sure how much next week).

With 275-280whp, you're getting up to the levels where you're reducing the life of the motor. Getting close to 300whp you need to beef up the engine to handle the power. Think about it, this is a 1.8L 4 cyl, 11.5 compression motor that was not designed for FI. It's so easy to forget how small this motor is. It's amazing to even have 300 crank out of this thing. Then you have to worry about the transmission. It's only rated to handle something like 176wtq. If you want that to last you can't mash your car like you stole it.

Then you have Frank, who's got like 600 hp out of a fully built 1.8L motor and tranny. It's absolutely mental.

The only thing I would even think of doing would be to have the VF intercooler installed on the Exige S. Then again I want to preserve the original configuration of the car. I'm just looking to make it as efficient as possible.

Hey Shay2nak I can't seem to find where you got your intake. Just wondering, because I'm trying to get a list together of things I want to buy. Please just let me know where you got it or if you know where I could get some time of nice intake. Thanks.

Of course you can err on the side of caution. But with the motor being so cheap I decided not to.

10 months of running 292hp/192tq on mine. I most definitely don't baby my car either. You can ask just about anyone on that. I try to do 1-2 track events a month even in this Texas heat. I have had no problems with the tune or setup thus far. I have had a minor things, but nothing that is really with the setup itself.

Since I do have 2bular headers, decat, and the ultra exhaust I had Charlie come out and tune for it. He's tweaked it a few times now, but all in all I'm happy with it.

ChiliRed (our resident track junkie) thinks it's a good 2 seconds faster at our local track (Harris Hill Road) than his Gotham 07. Just not with me behind the wheel. I'll get there eventually with more seat time, but I'm not in a hurry either.

On the track, I probably wouldn't change anything on an 07S other than get the gotham tune. Just don't think it's worth the money and time.

On the street, well lets just say the modified street cars don't pull on me anymore. Getting pulled by a 4 door G35 is what prompted me to go this route. Then again I bought an NA 06 to start with to offset the cost...

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any questions A8r9b.

Gotham 265 VF stage 1 comparison

I have VF stage 1 and my Elise is my daily drive. love it. I have a friend with an Exige S that won't touch my car for power so he has got injectors and Charlies Gotham 265 that he will be fitting this weekend. We can then compare. It seems a pity to lose a lot of original good stuff to get a side mounted intercooler(needed in an Elise) even though heatsoak can be an issue for you. Do you track the car ? I had mine on the track last week and I could not keep up with a couple of new GTRs, but I didn't carry a jerry can of fuel as they both needed to do!!!
I shall let you know how the Gotham 265 goes compared to my VF stage 1 if you like.
PS His conversion should only take a couple of hours and heaps cheaper than VF

Really wish VF would make a surround plate so we can avoid looking like we shoved the stay puff marshmallow man in our hatch.

haha, I love that Z.

Yea, I'm just looking for what would work best for me, keep the car useful, and doesn't replace parts that don't need to be.

I don't remember seeing a gotham 265 tune... is that for a different year/model S? lol, If all I would need is injectors for 260hp and a tune I would rock that but its not an option I've found.

I still have it around the front and bottom of mine. The 06 Exige has plastic panels that cover the top, so all I'm really missing is the space around the intake pipe and on top of the fender liners. Just too lazy to fab something up yet.
