Niceee.

One of the most powerful 2zz's in the world (turbo'd, stroker, etc) is run on the greddy emanage ultimate piggyback ECU:

http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?t=234612

But you should do your car justice and at least run the Hydra standalone ECU, if not the EFI.

I've got another hybrid solution in mind. It's pretty tough to compare to the celica's ecu as far as piggy back solutions, becuase it's so different in nature (or logic), aditional long term fuel trims, ect.

Very cool BR-

The EFI seems like the obvious choice since it sounds like you're going to be tuning thise yourself anyway (or with help of local tuner). You'll have gear controlled boost, post IC IAT, closed loop lambda, and none of the worries that are associated with piggy backs. I'm happy to help get you through the learning curve as well... THe '05 cars in particular are lay-up for the EFI system...

Best,

Phil

Phil what were you running on your car again? EFI system? I've personally got an 05 but what was the issue with the 06+ models?

I'm running EFI and I'm an 05 and it's no problem at all. The cars runs just silky smooth and cranks out loads of torque that I used to not have with a flash since I was able to to tune for my particular mods--- in your case, you're going to need some custom tuning of some kind for sure... I love the flexability it gives me, but I like doing things myself, learning about the car, etc... The 05 cars are super easy to work with for this system

The old issue is with the idle pertaining to the DBW cars, although that has since been resolved. IT does, however, take some work from what I gather. I haven't done it, but I'm quite certain I could tune the idle on an 06 car. It's just a whole different critter than the 05, which is really easy to dial in...

In summary, especialy since you're working with a 05 car (so I can speak from actual experience), I think the EFI would be a no brainer

Best,

Phil

I would like to be somewhere about 400 whp on pump gas. I've built a decent number of cars with T3/T4 setups and they usually anywhere from 350-600whp depending on boost level, intercooler, ect. I'm not sure how well this charge cooler will work, and that will make a large impact on horsepower. I also intend to run E85 (providing I don't run out of injector size).

So far the setup looks good, though I really wanted an equal length header, but this one should be totally functional.

I'm in the Netherlands for work and playing around on the internet. So far I’ve downloaded 10 songs and 2 TV Shows, and found what I believe to be the coolest keychain. I really really need to get out and go do something

So which fan to go with, apparently Forcefeds fan pulls 750cfm, and the only fan I could find that had that flow rate was a 9' fan I was going to go with two of these

5.2" to 7.5" Fans - SPAL 7.5" Straight Blade Pull Fan

only rated for 440cfm though. Suggestions, thoughts?

I've been down this path and hit the same wall with fans. I suggest ducting air to your IC with shrouds and see how it does- first. Heat soak in traffic is moot, since the car isn't under load while in traffic. Your main concern should be when the car is at load for extended periods of time like at the track or long spirited drives. In which case, you'll have a lot of air flow- perhaps more than what the fans will provide (hopefully more air than 4-800cfms anyway). Furthemore, the fans may inhibit airflow more than help it at speed. It just depends on how much air that side scoop flows at speed and how fast your IC disipates heat. Only way to know is to try it out with and without the fans- and watch for delta T--preferably on a closed course.

Best,

Phil

Carbon Canister...

Are you planning to reattach the Carbon Canister?
I see you capped-off the inlet point at the TB.

I removed mine for a few months to determine the performance
benefits, but replaced it after realizing my mpg had decreased due to
a free-venting system. I left the fuel tank breather line open, so it vented to the atmosphere. I think this caused so much vapor loss that it decreased my mpg.

BUT, throttle response was marginally more crisp and the engine seemed more alive in every gear.

any thoughts....

So...is your fuel tank breather line "open" now?
Did you route the tank breather line away from the firewall?
