Whoever thought working on a Lotus is hard, clearly hasn't tried it. Pick up a wrench and get some grease under your nails

Actually I'm getting close, the trans is rebuilt painted and in the car. So button up the install, work out some basemap issues and then to the dyno. Here is a couple of progress pics.

ha! My car already runs although taking 2 steps back to finish cage and put some paint on it so everyone does not point out how ugly it is. No more pics from me until it is painted.

FWIW, if you get sick of the whinebro, another option is the denso pump from the Supra Turbo. P/N is 195130-1020, flows around 290 lph at 45 psi, much quieter, and more efficient at lower voltages.

So a coupe of updates, while hooking up the engine electrical harness I did turbophil's split harness mod. You can see across the intake how running the sensors separate of the fuel injectors and deleting the unused circuits really cleaned up around the engine. Thanks Phil!

Hooked up the oil cooler plus lines, fuel lines, the exhaust, and turbo. It's going slow but I hope to have it up and running in less than a month.

Great project! I'm really looking forward to how this turns out.

I might have to stop by on one of my trips back home to Michigan.

Everything pictured is brand new. The stub, and intermediate shaft from the MR2 are carry over everything else was custom.

You must read MoreMonkey, the bell housing looks familiar. Ideas direct from the Ronin E153 transaxle.

Yeah, I like the idea for the high horsepower application. I even wanted to try to help out take measurements, or fab up some parts to help with the project but Frank really wanted to do it his way. I posted some comments or suggestions to topic, but typically it turned to an argument. Your right though I did copy the idea of using an aluminum plate for the bell housing, it's much smarter than trying to drill and tap into the MR2 one unmodified.

Have you given any thought to running a trans cooler versus looping the ports as pictured? Those boxes do like to get hot. Would be kind of cool to do one situated by the diffuser, and make a NACA duct/scoop for it.

I've defiantly thought about it. I'm trying to keep the weight down the new gearbox weighed in at 131lbs. Not sure what the stock trans weighed but I know the E153 is a god penalty.

I'm also skeptical if it's necessary. A M/T can handle allot more heat than an auto and in the past we always used an upper limit of 300-310 deg F on an auto trans in trailer tow's and durability testing. I would like to see how hot the new trans gets in use.
