Ok, so I figured since I was redoing the shifter cables and external transmission linkage, why not get one of those over sized clownish intercoolers, and a new intake pipe. So I did.

I like the shiny bits, looks nice. Do you think you'll have enough airflow into the intercooler sitting at a closed angle? Are you adding fans?

Thanks. I think I will add at least one fan although there is more than enough room for two. I also plan to cut off the ear like on your car and add some ducting to help. It's really tough to get a decent working A/A intercooler on our car, I may be naive but I'm optimistic to see what the intake temps are.

I wonder if shrouds would work good here, both directing incoming air into the intercooler and redirecting hot air away from the engine and down to the exhaust area.

OK so no posts in a while. I basically just spent the day getting a basemap up to 12psi (wastegate spring no BC yet). I'm very very very happy with the power. Its really fast! I haven't driven more than 50 miles, but I'm getting allot of pressure in the crankcase. The excess pressure made the valve cover leak and the il drain valve. I went with Mahle pistons and since you don't hone the bores I guess that could be the culprit. Any opinions??? I'm going to open up the crankcase and go with a catch can does anyone know the thread size of the PCV valve to the cover?

So I had my friend drive the car while I tuned the ecu. He's a big autocross guy. He was really impressed with the power but in his opinion since the power output changes so drastically in what would be the middle of you turn it's not ideal for autocross. The car really just needs a little more straight away. It's great on the street and on twisty roads.

Here are a couple picture from today in the current state she is ugly, but fun. I would say the equivalent of dating a fat chick. Fun to ride but you don't want o be caught in public.

Very nice.

Slightly OT but where did you get that driver's seat? It looks wide in the shoulders and that's what I've been looking for.

Hey man what do you think of this setup:

Apparently it does a good job balancing pressure both at the top and bottom of the engine while producing a slight vacuum it the case which is apparently desirable. I know nothing about this so soliciting advice.

If their is any sort of wiggle room, you should fab some sort of heat shield for the manifold. That manifold will glow red hot when you got WOT and i'm sure the intercooler is not going to like that...

Did you go back to the C64 gearbox, doesn't look like the E153 there.

I picked it up on fleabay, it's hit or miss over there. The one thing that sucks is I had to cut the Bride bracket to get it to fit in and now there is no room for the center console, but still It's real comfortable.

Nope still the E153. Works good (minus the fact I haven't got the spedo or tach working yet) I'm real curious to get the car weighed and find out the total and the distribution w/ the new box. Shifting is a little weird. It goes smooth in and out of gear but I think the way we cut the 153 gear selector to fit the lotus external linkage may not be as accurate as when they manufacture it, so the shifter sits a little to the right. I’m going to play with the cables a little see if I can improve the feel.

I'm going to use header wrap It's sitting on my shelf, I've got allot of final detail to touch up.

Here is a close pic of the trans. It’s the only one I've painted orange.

Got my new decals on (thanks sweet daddy!) Also Quick removal undertray mod done by my fabricator Ryan Thompson. The two rear most undertrays now drop down with 7 1/4turn fasteners.

Looks great!!! Have you done a boost leak test yet since the car is still somewhat apart?

No not yet. I haven't even done a compression test. I'm pretty sure there fine but I should check.

So a little update. I finally got the new trans shifting very smooth and I'm loving it. It's probably much more a street setup at this point although I don't see a reason why I couldn't autocross it, but I probably wouldn't see as much benefit out of the setup. Still it's a blast everyone who drives it loves it. Right now I'm up to 15psi and it's really too much for the tires. I'm hoping to get it dyno'd early next week provided I get some more street time with someone else driving. The hydras a little too complicated to drive and tune, so if anyone local wants to come drive while I tune it would be very appreciated. If nothing else it's sure to be fun. Here are some pics from today.

If you were in Colorado I'd take you up on that.
