Choices A and B are not mutually exclusive... in fact, I might say they are one and the same.

I talked to them yesterday, you might remember that we blew out the stock clutch because it made so much power on a smaller pulley than the kit ships with, and they bought a car to make the kit on rather than use a customers car.

So the car went out to have a new clutch fitted (i believe this was the previous need parts delay) and now its back the idle is sporadic, so again rather than ship it out not knowing why, its on teardown examining every part !

They have 25 SC's sitting on the shelf and the associated parts, thats around $100,000 investment gathering dust, i think its awesome they're doing all this work on making sure its perfect before launched.

i personally think that something happened to a sensor or a vacuum leak when the clutch was replaced by an external shop, i'm going to plug into the car over t'internet on tuesday with our fancy diagostics equipment and take a peek at it with them.

We deal with the choppy idle all the time on these cars, and it usually turns out to be a dirty maf, bad 02 or vacuum leak.
i'm as disappointed as you guys its taken so long, but i'm so happy to see something being done with this much consideration.

once the choppy idle has been diagnosed and repaired (and the car ran perfectly before the clutch change, except for the clutch wear obviously) then it'll either go on sale, or something else wil pop up

so thats all i know so far, i know some people are dying to get it, but i know you don't want to be in the position of a bunch of people with aftermarket kits looking at daily running, or after install problems and fixes.

You should get the Katana, so I have less competition in getting the first batch of these.

Honestly. This kit should make more power, for not much more than the Katana. Read through the thread, we only have preliminary numbers, but it all looks very promising.

It depends. I went with the Katana because I wouldn't need to swap out the clutch for a stronger one.

With this kit and the power it's going to make, you might need to get a better clutch.

If that's not a big deal, then get this kit because it's going to be good.

Yes. It'll probably really take 5-6 hours, and "book" or "shop" time charged seems to be around 7-8 hours. The labor will cost a lot more than the clutch...

So around $350 for the clutch and perhaps $800 for labor. It's not that bad since clutches are wear items and you'll probably need a new one eventually anyhow.

Never hurts to upgrade, right?

OS Giken twin plate clutch FTW!! Capable of holding insane amounts of power and comes with a new bespoke flywheel. Mind you engagement will be much harsher the OEM but pedal feel will be the same it will just grab like there is no tomorrow.
