Me too, but it is 42 degrees in the midwest and no such thing as a "hill" like that. Our hills last about 3 seconds at 60mph.

I really appreciate the conservatism and bozoproofing that seems to be going into this kit. Conservative timing good. Intercooler good. Sleeper looks, good. Air/fuel ratios?

Asking what air/fuel ratios you're tuning for when in boost -- 11.5:1 or so? Please share, as I ran my 11:1 compression stock block S2000 at 11.4:1 Air/Fuel for years in the Texas heat (huge oil cooler, huge radiator, conservative timing ~ 16 degrees at 8 PSI) and had zero knock evidence.

Please add me to the "wait list" of folks interested. Unsure if my Elise will sell, but this kit's torque band may push me to "commit" (oooh, the "C" word) to keeping her around a bit longer.

Keep up the good work.

Stanford

Just an FYI, here's my STI on a conservative dyno tune for roadcourse duty with meth/water injection and my boost/AFR maps, too. Believe me, my system is not "dead weight"...and my AFRs are well within safety levels where my motor would not go BOOM if my system malfunctioned...

Now I'm sure you'd be interested in a gain like that, with NO HEATSOAK, and a spotless-clean combustion chamber... just need to fill the tank when the little light tells you to...

Sorry for the thread jack, it won't happen again.

Be good,
TomK
Read again please. Nitrous systems are dead weight when you run out. As for water injection, just another thing to go wrong and run out. I don't care if you only have to refill it once a month. It is something I would not personally want to deal with. I am sure it is so great that you get wood every time you step on the accelerator with it but I am not in the impression that this car needs it. It look like Charliex can get plenty of power without it.

Sounds like you're picking a bone with me Chuck ... I'll take the bait...

If you take a look at the dyno graph above... that compares an Off-the-shelf flash, what people here get with a supercharger, compared to a custom dyno tune with meth/water injection.
Please take note that at 3250 rpm, my torque gain to the wheels was 130lb/ft...more than your car came with from the factory...that usually gives any car-guy at least a chubby, no? Did the car NEED it?... not as much as the Elise does, IMHO...as my Elise could certainly use every single hp/tq it can find. If I can get 20whp more by running more aggressive timing and slightly more boost, then sign me up. Add to that no heatsoak, even better..... a safer AFR with the anti-detonation properties of stone... where do I send payment???

The application with a good intercooler should allow IATs to be UNDER ambient temps, with power output rivaling or bettering a "race-gas" tune with ether 91 (for the Cali folks) or 93 octane. You don't want it, not interested in dealing with another fluid...fine, I'm not twisting your arm... it's not for everyone.

Let a tuner mount/use/and tune a proper system, with or without an intercooler, and the results will speak for themselves...as they have done with every other FI application before.

As far as Charlie making power without it...he certainly does and his reputation is why I still consider his offering for my own car. I only inquired if he had plans to use WI...and then this flood of anti-WI ensued from the grandstand.

Again, I do not wish to thread-jack/spar/debate this subject and dilute Charlie's thread. I've started another thread on the subject of WI... come on over...

Be good,
TomK

Upgrades to the intercooled SC kit to come?

1.)Will upgrades be offered in the future once the kits have launched?
What is the usable maximum horsepower this
new kit can support?

2.) I don't see how enough air can possibly cool off the SC adequately considering the IC is positioned parallel to the flow of air.

Great Job...can't wait to SC the RIGHT way.

Any information on when this kit will be available? I am definitely interested and would consider using my car as a mule under agreeable terms. I am looking for 270 rwhp if possible. I tried to sell my car and the people have spoken! Now it's time to bite the bullet and have some fun.

Geez, what is it with these guys who own show-winning '69 Z/28s and who are selling their '06 Lotuses who now are considering FI as a form of "commitment."

Too funny & not meaning to jack the thread, but please post a link to some pics. Tux black + RS for you, Dover white non RS (no spoilers or cowl hood either) for me.

OK, now back to lusting for a properly tuned, intercooled FI setup...

LOFL! Love the Z. My car is undergoing a mild restoration as we speak so I will have pics when it's done. My wife is pregnant and I keep my Exige off premisis so the commitment is to make time to drive it...But I am over it now. Looks like this one wants to stay but I want more power than the standard kits that are out there.

Looking forward....

Newbie Exige owner: This kit looks great. Are there any other kits worth consider or is the only right thing to do just to wait for this kit to be released?
Anything new about the release date?
How complicated will the installation be?
Are the kits "bolt on" and "all inclusive" kits regarding parts needed?
Do you have to send your "ECU" for upgrade or would it be possible to buy a finished upgraded ECU and keep the OEM as a backup in case you want to go stock again?
Do you know how many HP the released kit will aim at?

Most of the parts have arrived, its straightforward to install if you have some wrenching experience, easier to do with the clam off, but doable with it on. Its bolt on and all inclusive.

Did we get any data on the efficacy of the intercooler in that mounting position? If I can scrape together the nickels and dimes this might be my winter project this year.

hmmm very interesting.... Charlie are you able to tune conservative for a Pennsylvania ambient environment? I realize youre in LV, where Im sure your air has very little humidity. Whereas, here in PA we deal with it all! Will the ecu learn accurately and quickly enough to prevent detonation?

Thanks Brian: Have been reading about some of them - thats how I came to this thread. Tons of information out there. Was hoping for a short version like somthing like this:
BWR: good kits, bad ECU, fair prices (JUST A DUMMY TEXT)
Katana: ........
Haas: ......
Sector111: ......
Forcedfed: .....
CharlieXkit: .....

Charlie - More stupid questions:
ECU: Reprogramming the OEM or new ECU as part of the kit?
HP: Around what HP/BHP is expected in the release kit?
Intercooler: Why not open and use the roof air-inlet on the exige?
Stock exhaust/headers OK?

You will learn that charlie is THE guy to go to when it comes to retuning the stock ECU. Thats why he helps develop many of the kits. I'm pretty sure this kit will reflash the stock ECU and Charlie can custom tune to any mods(with extra $ I'd assume).

Not using the roof scoop because this kit is designed to also fit an elise that doesn't have the room above the engine.
