there is "supposedly" lag thats associated with intercoolers.. the one on the ZR1 is TINY with no pipes.. adding pipes adds "some" lag..

Got my TVS installed and running.

Took a long lunch break from work today and got the new blower installed.

Super nice setup. The new alternator / SC bracket is very cool. Patent Pending I'm sure.

Feels real strong from what I can tell with a short test drive. I'll be out on the road tomorrow, breaking it in.

I'll post pictures soon.

Thanks a million Phil ! Well done.

Toysport - yes an upgrade...had the Tripoint aka Katana on for 2+ years.

Install is coming along fine. Like an idiot, I banged the VVT oil pressure sensor and broke it (it lives real close to the right end of the manifold) and need to get one on order. Someone smart would have pulled it before reinstalling to the head. No big deal since we're supposed to get snow tomorrow and the first of the week, so no driving for a while anyway.

Again, Phil has done an awesome job with this kit right down to the detailed instructions. Anyone with just average mechanical skills (like me) should have no problem installing.

The sensor is definitely in the way. I remove the bolt that holds it in and then rotate the sensor out of the way(per my Blackwatch instruction). I'm not sure it pulls out easily.

Just got back from a drive. What a beast! Not rubbing it in just reporting what I find. LOL

It pulls out after removing the bolt, there is an o-ring on the sensor. A little oil on the o-ring and a twist helps to reinstall.

Man, glad I'm not the only one that had an issue with that sensor and I was working all stock MP62 -- I "discovered" Jim's same solution. Fortunately I didn't break mine, but I hear ya Dave.

Snow, what's that? It's actually been pretty cold here, 48 - great for power though. brrrr...

I have a feeling that your definition of "average mechanical skills" and mine are very different. I would say that the person with average mechanical skills could tackle changing their brake pads and fluids, not installing a supercharger on a Lotus.

It's not that hard, really. I consider myself "average mechanical skills". I've replaced and built engines before, it's really not that hard. It gets "difficult" when you need special tools and measuring to 1000th's -- I usually avoid those areas. It's all a one person job. I was able to remove the motor without messing with axle or tranny - key was removing the idle pully wheel before removal which provided much more side to side motion.

I had a more difficult time working on a Ford 4.6 DOHC -- I did actually need a few special tools for that job, but for the 2ZZ no special tools at all. I can see why Lotus went with this motor, it is one of the most simple engines I've ever worked on.

The stock SC does need a little "angle wrangle" and never tight down all the bolts until everything is in place. Stock intake manifold is a biatch -- had to grind down a 12mm box wrench to get to that center nut. Removing the clam really makes it very easy to access everything and clam removal is at most 1 hour on my S. Of course Phil's is hinged (cheater).

You just made it onto my list of folks here with above average skills.

I think you are overestimating average.

I consider myself at the same level as Robains and also consider myself average. Knowing how to follow directions, use common sense, and not be afraid to break a few things does not make me genius. Motors are not that difficult.

One of my best friends who builds his own intake manifold, measures his own machine specs, and shoves transverse motors into rwd cars mated to homemade distributors is advanced.

The stuff Ronin is dealing with is advanced, as building a new mounting plate to install a TVS blower on your Elise. That is advanced.
