Thanks Phil. I was only thinking about the re-flash for cost purposes... but you're right that the EFI is the way to go.

I am already thinking about the intercooled version... Does that make me insane?

No.

It just makes you anxious to get rid of your current blower!

Buy this book in the meanwhile: How to Tune and Modify Engine ... - Google Book Search

Awesome read.

Anything published more recently? That book is 2004 and others are 2003 and earlier -- also don't see any mention of VVTi (or similar) tuning. But thanks for the link.

Rob.

Here's what the newcelica people have come up with for VVT-i tuning:

How To: Tune VVT on the Power FC - NewCelica.org Forum

Very good threads.

Weather broke in Ohio and we're actually seeing sun for a few days Drove the Elise hard for about 3 hours yesterday afternoon and it's still running fantastic. The EFI is really dialed in and the BOE TVS is an absolute beast. Phil your last map is awesome! Mounted the laptop, hit the road and did some fine tuning - my car seems to like a little more fuel in the lower load cells which makes shifting transition silky smooth, idle is rock steady.

Anyway, couldn't be happier with the results. The Katana was a great kit, but if you're looking for serious power, Phil's TVS kit is the way to go. Offer still stands for anyone in the Dayton area to come by and go for a test drive - just make sure you have some cash set aside for his kit 'cause you'll want one bad when we're done

Cash is waiting!

You have a CAI and headers... I wonder how much more power you're making over a standard TVS? Phil's told me there's some good gains to be found with an intake...

Looks like I'm going to find out in the next 24-48 hours... ;)

Phil and Andrew very graciously spent a good time of their respective weekends retrofitting the TVS system to my Elise (I previously had a Katana kit installed since July 2007).

We also installed the LETSLA shifter kit and are redoing all the DL-1/Dash1/ChaseCam PDR/Subwoofer wiring. No more rat's nest!

I fully intend to get her to the dyno next weekend for some baseline runs... going to shoot for 285whp/185wtor (up from 230whp/149wtor). Redline set to 8200rpm for safety with the stock pump... for now... Stage 2 coming soon...

I'm also going to reweigh the whole damn car to see the overall delta. I'm guessing I'm about 2.5 lbs. heavier than I was with the Katana system. Not too bad!

Stay tuned!

Just as Darksol said, the car ticked right over last night.

This was a basic Katana upgrade from a hardware standpoint. For engine mgmt, we installed my TVS spec'ed EFI kit from Kris @DRS consisting of dual maps (switchable by a toggle switch that is mounted in the center console of the car), among a host of other goodies. Also has it running 100% closed loop, with a wide band 02, which is all part of the package I've mentioned earlier.

Dave had a turboXS intake from the earlier days that he wasn't running since his ECU flash was not friendly to it, so we reinstalled it with this kit. He also has FF headers and vonhep style exhaust.

Below are a couple crummy camera phone pics. Found a new use for the holes in the cross member for that end of the day libation

And then the final engine bay pic... Looks pretty sano

Later,

Phil

BL Lime is the bomb!

One little bit that I like to do that may be hard to see in the pics it "fix" the wiring harness... Notice how I split the injector and VVT plugs out oft he main wiring harness that would normally travel next to the fuel rail? I split all those add'l sensory wires out (no cutting, just rerouting) and run them under the manifold and only run the injector and VVT plug above the manifold. This way future maintenance is easier with less wires to tangle with and the install looks much cleaner. As you can see in above completion pic, all those nasty wires are hidden now... Stealth

Later,

Phil
