I'd be slightly concerned that the manifold will warp and crack due to a lot of weight cantilevered out there with that turbo and the fact that there are only 5 bolts that hold the flange to the head. I had to split my manifold flange and use very thick material for durability, but maybe the material is more robust (like inconel) and very thick. I also worry that the manifold/turbo bolts will not hold if the studs are not welded and jetnuts not used. Just my personal experience with my POS turbo setup and chasing those gremlins over the last nearly 3 years.

Still not clear if it is a stock ECU or if MAP provisions are added, as I would be concerned that a proper tune really requires both airflow and manifold pressure data to the ECU. Maybe you can extraploate well enough from airflow, rpm, and IAT. Does the MAF peg and need to be attenuated?

but nits only - that is gorgeous work and I hope it turns out perfect!

x2 on the manifold pressure readings. But I'm sure you got that covered.

If you're keeping the MAF as well, are you going with the STI MAF to not max out the stock MAF, and redo all the voltages like on Smaay's 550 whp beast? I think past 400-450 whp is the voltage reading limit to the stock MAF...but that's for the Celica GTS...do you guys use a different MAF?

This is all cool stuff BTW . I can't wait to see the finished results.

"Ok here's my new old 3" Burns muff exhaust system with a separate bung before the muff so that Charlie can plug in his wide band for tuning..

Here's a shot of the under turbo brace going from the turbo to the block using the stock exhaust support stud...

It ain't goin anywhere......

the brace and rigid oil drain line to avoid drive shaft interference are very elegant and good details! I may have to copy them!

That sounds sweet! Damn, it spools pretty damn fast...Any idea what RPM it hits full boost?

yeah it really does spool fast, even though i set the spark maps to hardly any advance and just scaled the injectors to be in the right area, the thing takes off like nobodys business, i was behind in the slk merc and he left me for dust, but i was a lot more comfortable, put out some nice flames too.

if memory serves full boost was hitting before the cam switch at 5800, i'd have to double check with frank to be sure what it was.

yes i would!

Charlie, just emailed you some dyno rental pricing to your hotmail account...

Let me know if you decide to go there and maybe i'll go to hang out.

Since the MAF is maxed out, will you guys be switching over to the STI MAF and rescaling the voltages?

Since he has the ability to adjust all the voltages etc I'd toss the MAF altogether removing the pre-turbo restriction and throw in a 3Bar GM MAP sensor... Then your good to about 28psi and all the voltages vs pressure information is already out there to set up the scaling... Cost is around $70

Voltage chart below...

Charlie says he already put in a MAP sensor to his setup. Plus they're working with a reflashed stock ECU, which I'm guessing needs the MAF sensor no matter what for all the different tables charlie has access to tune.

Im guessing since a MAP conversion and an OEM ECU will be used, it would make it more user friendly when it goes into KIT form?
plus its cheaper
