Supercharged with Laminova A2W Intercooler

Here's a supercharger setup that I've made, using an air-to-water Laminova intercooler integrated into the intake manifold. I took this approach to minimize the air volume after the supercharger, in order to reduce pressure drop. As you can see, it's a very tight fit. The front and rear engine mount has been filled with polyurethane, so while the IC is close to the firewall, it does not make contact.

The project began as a Tri-Point/Greddy SC kit, which nothing now is being used except for the MP62. The "swan neck" in front comes from the Exige-S supercharger. Everything else is custom fabricated.

The 4 long-core Laminova IC sits on top of the MP62, which blows at an angle to the surge tank and back down again through the short runners. The 6 plugs on top are "access ports", so I can bolt the manifold to the Laminova core. The 4 smaller plugs are for Aquamist water injection - should the need arise.

The oil catch can isn't hooked up yet.

The tiny intercooler reservoir sits on the right side, along with the heat exchanger. Cold air is pulled from the side vent up using a SPAL fan. The Jabsco Cyclone sits beneath. Again, very tight fit.

Injectors are 550cc. Supercharger pulley is 3.1" and making about 8psi after IC. I'm running EFI standalone and TurboPhil's map. Car's been running great, pulls very well. I'm still tinkering with the tune - though it seems like I'm spending more time figuring out how to use the Dash2 and DL1.

I would like to thank Phil (BOE Fabrication) for all his help in with the EFI tuning. I wouldn't be up and running now if it wasn't for him.

That is a really nice set up... I love original fabricated parts, especially when they serve a purpose like this... Much respect for the time and work you put in to this.

Now go out and beat the crap out of it..

Very cool, my friend. It still amazes me that you got all that packaged into such a small area

Best,

Phil

post this on monkeytuner if you want more technical feedback...no offense to LT, but most guys on here are like me...don't know much about what REALLY works for our cars

like the color matching and especially the welds.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm making sure everything in order first, then I'll take it to a dyno for the fine tuning. Then it'll be

I do have a post of this on MM.

excellent work. I think you need some hose clamps, though.

Very very nice. Wish I had the time, money, and ability to do that!

Any idea on WHP#s?

Some of the pics without the hose clamps are before I completed the setup. I now have the oil catch can hooked up as well.

No idea on the RWHP. Charge temp max at 130F so far, but I haven't pushed it hard enough to see how it is with extended runs.

I'm sending my Dash2/DL1 back to mfg for diagnostic, so I'm flying blind at the moment.

For those not familiar with Laminovas, here's how they look on the inside. Much different design than traditional ICs, the fins are very dense and not much light can pass through. Water flows through the inside of the cores.

I just saw this thread; wow very nice work! It would be great to see some IAT and boost datalogging with dyno pulls.

Did you start with the Greddy intake manifold and cut it down?

Cheers,
Ryan
