Thoughts on LS diff with SC upgrades

All,

My car is in the shop getting a lot of upgrades, VF Stage ll and it custom tuned, FF header and sport cat, Stage ll exhaust, lite weight flywheel, HD clutch, Olhins 2 way adjustibles, 7/8 BWR roll bar, Sector 111 steering arms, ect, ect, ect

So since i am getting all this done, I have been thinking about getting limited slip diff. But I have no experiance with them nor do I really know whats out there. I did have just a little problem with the inner wheel spinning with my stock 06 Elise, and i can only think that it will get worse with more power.

I have posted this in this forum since it is about SC and turbo setups.

Thanks in advance.

Darrin

yes you should get an LSD but I'll leave the recommendations to someone with more experience. I wouldn't however use the Stage 2 muffler. It is pretty restrictive on flow internally.

I already have the stage ll on my car, but if i am spending this much money changing the exhaust wouldn't be that big of deal.

I just do not want a OMG loud exhaust or a droning sound and i want it to exit the diffuser. (the stage ll does drone)

I saw the Larini Sport 8" that exits the stock location but I know nothing about this and I am on deployment so I do not have the bandwith to download stuff.

I really miss the low rumble of the stock exhaust when you are going though town.

I also wanted a quiet muffler, I have a 2bular GT3 8" that I'm happy with. No drone and excellent build quality. I know Jim at 2bular also makes diffuser exit models, you might want to call or email him.

2bular.com

BTW, you might also want to consider upgrading your motor mounts, either with Manly's polyurethane inserts or Sector 111's motor mounts. The stock engine already moves way too much, and it just gets worse with more power.

LSD has been a hot topic around here in the past, here are some threads:

LSD vs. Open Diff.

Limited Slip Opinions

I like mine, and have found no downsides to it. YMMV

I should also add that I am only home 3 months out of the year and drive my car incredibly hard when I am there. I just got it this spring and in the 3 months I put 5000 miles on it and went through 1.5 sets of tires and its gettingh new tires yet again.

I bought it to drive it, not look at it.

I love this car btw.

Speaking of the stock exhaust, what aftermarket setup would sound closest to stock that would work well for the power output levels of the VF Stage II/BOE TVS? I love how the stock exhaust sounds at low RPMs and I don't want anything obnoxious. I know we're not rocking exotic V8s or V12s but that doesn't mean we have to sound like Civics either.

If you autox the car, definitely the diff. If you track it and are excellent track driver, then probably the diff. Otherwise don't bother.
