I just installed the kit on my 06 with the Xede piggyback. Figured if I waited for the piggybackless solution, it would be next winter before I made the leap as I wouldn't want any downtime during the summer months. (charlie is still a couple months or so away from completion with no guarentees)

The piggyback is totally seamless and the tune they gave me for it works perfectly. I did have an issue initially with a bad Xede, but once that was resolved, it was smooth sailing.

You also only need to 'splice' into 3 wires in the harness so its no big deal to reverse it when the piggybackless solution comes along, although the piggyback works so well I see no need to.

Just do it, the car is soooooo much faster with it!
