Its somewhat humorous to see all the kits are slightly different in little ways.
I got the fuel pump installed this last weekend as well....once I actually got to the assembly and started unbolting it, it probably only took an hour to get everything changed out.....but it took me about 8 hours to get to figure how I was going to remove the harness bar, go get the tools, modify the tools, and finally get it unbolted. The pump is definently noticable, but the car in general is just about 3x louder with the intake howling, the supercharger making it noises and the fuel pump going. The stock clutch so far seems to be ok, as long as you make very distinct shifts and dont "feather" it as your accelerating. Feathering at intial take off is still taking some getting used too, because as 1000-2000 RPM the supercharger wont really put out any extra power, and so the engine is its anemic self, but try to feather the clutch in the 3000 RPM area and you feel the clutch start to give you the eveil eye.

right around 1200 normally and about 1500 with the AC on.....the car can actually keep moving in 1st with a slight incline and no foot on the accelerator.

relief....thanks! I hadn't driven my ELise for 3 weeks and forgot what was the normal idle for a vf2 sc.
I think my NA idle was 800rpm? (at least below 1000) Did you get the right dipstick tube? Mine is reading short of mid-way between the two dots (post vf) (I am sure I have the wrong tube) Pre vf: It read at or slightly below/above the upper hash mark. Where does your read?

Last weekend, I've done a lot of tests because one of my friend Lotus owner wanted to know my feedback about the VF2...
220 km/h to 0 with hard braking, no stall. 220 km/h to 0 downshifting from 6th to first, no stall. Idle always fine...In city driving, after 5, 10, 50 stop at red lights, no stall... I don't know what to say to the guys with idle or stalling issues...I don't know them. What I know is that I installed my VF II supercharger correctly and this kit is very easy to install if you know what you are doing...Charlie's tune is fine, check your leaks... This kit is well done. |

Yea that must be it. Obviously I have installed my VF kit wrong twice now. But I'm so good at installing it incorrectly that neither Charlie or Jermaine can find where I screwed it up at.
![]() Drop your idle back to 750rpm where it should be and see if your tests still hold true. If they do then I'll fly you down here to fix mine. |

I wanted to wait till I got the fuel pump installed before asking about this in case that was a side effect, but I am getting a consistant P0172 System Too Rich (Bank 1). I am assuming this is the actual fuel trim and not the catalyst as I think that would error out as a "Catalyst Efficiency Too Low" or something similar.
My OBD-2 reader doesnt show the fuel trims. But the car idle's very well. Although on the highway at partial throttle I can sometimes feel the engine sputtering, it almost feels like a light head wind coming and going. Any ideas? Could it be a vacuum leak somewhere? But it doesnt make the idle chase. Maybe charlie accidently put a stage 1 flash? But again the idle is very very good. It pretty much can sit right on 14.6 for several seconds at a time.

I got the same code at around the 600 mile marker post-install in a stageI. This was when I'd mix 100 octane w/ the crappy CA 91 octane (1:5 mix). I cleared it and stopped mixing in the 100 octane and haven't got the code after 200 miles. Hopefully, it doesn't come back.

Now a 1200rpm idle would mask all of my problems much like a 1000 or 1100 idle does for others. I just want to know what is causing the problem... Charlie has doctored mine up enough now that it's liveable. Still fluxuates sometimes when waiting in grid for the track. But at least it doesn't die anymore. Then again I am running stage3 with a whole lot of other goodies. |

Which is good and inexpensive? I've had an engine light since the day I picked up my Elise from vf after the vf2 install. -robert
