VF Turbokit Prototype It has been a year since we release the availability of our Lotus Elise/Exige Intercooled Supercharger Kit. We are finally at a point where we feel we can start posting info on the next progression of mods. When designing this kit we started from a specifications we felt would be a necessity for a Street/Track Kit. We are just getting into the testing phase of all of this. So there will be info posted here as we progress. The Base Kit It is only right that we carry over our intercooler from our supercharger kit. It has worked very well on the SC kit and now it will be used with our more efficient turbo option. The GT28RS will be the baseline turbo we will use. Honestly it is very common on small displacement engines in the single turbo form and often used in high horsepower dual turbocharger applications. For the sub 400whp, this will be the answer. Use of the new Tial 38mm External Wastegate will be used to help control boost in conjunction with an electronic boost controller. This will help us dial in a boost curve similar to a Supercharged car or a more traditional turbocharged boost map. At this point we have no ETA for the kit. Here are a few pictures of the kit coming together. ![]() ![]() ![]() We are just getting started! ![]() Jermaine~

For those of us already considering your supercharger/intercooler option, what are the pros and cons of the turbo charger vs. the other?

Very clean! I like the way the waste gate runs right into the downpipe. How is the clearance between the turbo and intermediate axle? Big thumbs up here!

Oh wow... I was just warming up the wife for the VFII...
Might have to wait for this, the boy racer in me needs another turbo'd car. And if it's not $12,000 like the FF kit, that'd be even better....

my guess is
pro- broader powerband, more power/torque cons- heat great to see a turbo option coming our way.... It would be interesting to see how a GT28rs compares to a T3-60 or a Holset turbo. The Holset's seem to be cheaper then the GT line & offer similar (sometimes better) spoolup, power etc.

Big question.....vent to atmosphere BOV option considering the MAF setup? I guess you could do a blow through MAF solution, but that would add more cost.
The great thing about turbos is all the drama.....its great when the BOV and wastegate vent to atmosphere.

wastegate going to atmosphere is fun at first.... then it gets old.... very old!!
ALways worrying about my policeman hearing the wg dumping becomes a PITA over time. I do prefer the BOV & turbo spooling over s-charger whine ![]()

Interesting. I Like the idea of a power adder that does not add parasitic loss.
Maybe I can get another kit to store in my garage next to the BWR SC that I have not had time to install yet. ![]() |

Send it to me. I'll get right on installing it! I'll even take off a few days from work!

I'm pretty sure there will be parasitic loss. I can't speak as to how much loss, but certain there will be some.
It requires HP to compress the air, 8 psi is 8 psi no matter how you compress it. 8 psi is pretty much a fixed resistance. Whether it's produced by a belt and pulley, or forcing heated gasses across a turbine is merely a matter of efficiency. I'd have to imagine that it would cost around 20ish hp off the gross to put up 8psi at 30lbs/min. There are some freakishly smart people on here that will surely let us know how to figure this out. I hope! ![]()
