11.5sec 1/4 mi Datsun 510 ... and it's electric!!

Dang, and only 1900 lbs. That's gotta hurt to bring up one's race gas muscle car with drag slicks and lose to an import with an electric motor.

I hope he succeeds in getting more electric racers out there.

Rob.

Electric motors can be super powerful with so much torque. Hell, you can put 1 motor on each wheel independently - think of how a car could handle with a smart CPU and 4 engines + AWD to work with.

Too bad the whole battery capacity issue gets in the way. Works great for racing in short bursts, I suppose!

That would be slick -- yeah it does have a lot performance possibilities -- beauty is all electronic control so one can have the range and performance without compromise. Gotta start somewhere -- this guy did all the work himself, garage brew electric race cars.

Isn't the Tesla supposed to be switching over to these types of batteries also?

I was surprised that charging can be done in as little as 20-30 minutes.

If we could just use one tiny plutonium isotope in the batteries, longevity wouldn't be an issue. It will be interesting to see what the future will bring.
