Question 2-eleven paint job

I am thinking about changing the paint job on my 2-eleven

I am considering a vinyl car rap with a colour scheme like the F1 McLaren,

It would get a mirror silver background and the McLaren colours on a similar scheme as the striping on the car as is.
What’s the opinions on this?

I think a photoshop rendering would help to see what it might look like.

mirror silver (chrome) won't work for the wrap. It doesn't stretch. You can use it on flat spots with no curves though. I'd put another layer underneath it if you use it so it doesn't become permanent. Metallized films are short term only and can get pretty hard to remove. Regular metallic silver will work, although not the same effect. If you are painting, Alsa paint co. makes a chrome paint that looks like chrome but I didn't think anyone did a whole car in it unless you name was 50 Cent or you lived in Dubai.

Oracal makes a metalized film that will actually contour around curves a bit. Its not the standard polyester stuff your used to, it feels like normal vinyl. It does rip quite easily and is certainly not made for wrapping a car.

I've used it. I use mostly Oracal. It's a little better than the old stuff, but I still hate working with chrome. That and reflectives are the worst, and in large quantity neither remove well without an underlayment.

It doesn’t sound like the rap will work, may have to go back to a paint scheme.

Thanks for all the advice on this

I have found a paint product called MirraChrome and a firm down south that can do it. Has anybody got any experience of this?

That's the Alsacorp product I think. Who did you find that can do it? I've been looking for a painter experienced in their stuff but haven't found one.

My cousin used to be a rep for them and and has used all their products. The chrome, color changing, etc. Very cool stuff. Unfortunately he is such a flake I can't recommend him to anyone I know.

Alsacorp is no help themselves. The only thing they'll give me is a phone number for a rep in my state. The only thing the rep knows is that he sells a bit of product to some paint supply stores. The only thing the stores know is that maybe they sold a bit of product once or twice to somebody they can't remember.

So there isn't any way to track down a body shop that's experienced in the stuff using THAT method.
