Link says "it's also street-legal and coming to the U.S"
Would be great to have more options similar to an Atom.

Yes...I agree...chance of this being street legal is the same as me winning the LOTTO....maybe even less.

No roof, no doors, no windows and street legal? Makes no sense.

It's definitely coming, but it won't be sold by LCU as street legal.

This thing is street legal...and this guy is being pulled over and arrested every five minutes for driving it. It's true.

He hangs out at the Woodland Hills get togethers on Sundays, sometimes. Nice guy.

It is street legal...AND...it's coming to the US.

That sentence should NOT be inferred to mean that will be coming to the US street legal.

None of those things would keep it from being street legal. To be street legal, all a car has to have is:

* windscreen
* airbags
* lights and indicators
* min ride height
* insurance friendly bumpers
* crash testing

My guess is that the 211 will have the lights b/c it is street legal somewhere. It might have airbags but I can almost guarantee it won't be crash tested.

Of course, some cars get around those rules with the kit-car exception. The 211 will not qualify for that.

Just tell them it's on a Fiero chassis.

When they brought in the 340R....it was also not an approved car. But it had a K Series engine. Anyways...I was told by the guys at Lotus that they actually informed the goverement and the states of all the VINs so that the cars could NOT be registered.

Well, all that DOT stuff and an EPA certified powertrain.

Dang. Missed a biggie, huh? Okay, but nowhere are doors or windows a requirement AFAIK. That was my point.

Is it really true? I can see getting a kitcar registration. And I can see getting pulled over all the time from skeptical cops. But looks like they would check his registration on the side of the road and let him go rather than arresting him.

You've seen that car in person? In CA? With a plate on it?

I just ask because a few months ago it was supposedly for sale in FL.

Yes. He has three of them. Two black, one red.

His are powered by a Kawasaki Hayabusa engine. Very fast.

Yes. California. With plates.

He was at the Beverly Hills Father's Day Rodeo Drive Sports Car Collection, next to a black Lotus Elise.
