BOE Fabrication has done it again.

As a happy owner of a 2006 (first availability in Canada) Lotus Elise and member of this forum ever since, I would like to express my entire experience and satisfaction with a Company that most of you know quite well, BOE Fabrication.

I would start by letting all of you know, that I am not an expert at anything regarding, Downforce, Camber, ECU, Intercooler, Supercharger, Tires, etc, etc. I rely almost 100% on LT to make decisions. I read a lot on LT but I almost post nothing as I don’t feel my experience and expertise accurate to help any members. In brief I don’t want to mislead any of you.

But as a consumer I have experience and I would like to share all of it with you.
I bought the car at the fall of 2006, and just drove it as it was for a full season. I do +- 10 to 15 days of lapping/year. In 2007 I bought some shock, wheels, tires, Rtd brace from Sector, Brake pads and Alcon front disc brakes on custom hubs from my buddy Marc Julien. What a change it did on the car. It really helps and ameliorates the handling characteristic of an already pretty good car to start with.

While doing all this, from time to time I was consulting Phil at BOE by email to get some advice. Never bought anything from the guys, never talk to him over the phone, but always had a quick reply. Again, as my mechanic experience was limited and I just wanted to validate my choices.

To make a long story short, I bought from Phil at BOE:
• TVS Supercharger and EFI ECU
• Clamhinge
• Surge Tank

And exhaust... Yes Phil is now offering Exhaust. They are a piece of art, quiet (but sound great). Top quality and easy to install.

Finally last point, if you have limited or lack of experience, Phil is always at the end of the phone ready to help out as I have never seen before.

Phil, you’re the BEST!

By the way, the car is a blast.

coast fab muffler with a 90 pipe for a tip. Not much for "making an exhaust" but those are nice pieces.

Cool deal, yeah Phil makes quality stuff at affordable prices.

I used that very same clamp on my Weapon-R header to Larini 8" and due to engine movement the Larini kept separating at the joint. Phil has a good solution for that which I want get before I go out on track again.

But I have No idea why he likes to fish

there is a massive lack of customer service in the world right now, and after dealing with phil on several occasions, he stands soooo much higher than some others i've dealt with!
i would'nt think twice about doing business with him ( and i will) in the future.
he has helped me after hours and on weekends, thanks phil for being so dedicated to our needs.

Looks like a Burns Stainless muffler.....like the one I have for my 7. Great units, beautiful construction , repacable, but loud as hell

You might want to move the hanger hose clamps to the outer edges of the can to reduce the load on the hanger bar. We use cupped muffler hangers so that one doesn't damage or crack the can the can is very thin and will fatigue inter point loads.

I've talked Phil's cellphone dead many times getting advise. He knows his stuff and is a class act to the Lotus community. I regard his TVS/EFI blower system as one of the best innovations/performance mods for the Elise/Exige ever.

Thanks guys!

Point of clarification on the exhaust, Z is correct. Coast makes burns exhaust cans. I actually went through a bunch of iterations before I settled on Serge's exhaust. The guys at Coast know me really well--- a little too well I tried different lengths, different diameters, differnt mounts, etc... I came to two different versions that do NOT drone. One is quiet and the other is, uh, not so much!. Serge has one of my prototype quiet cans. The mount is a little unique but simple. After welding/fixing 2bular cans, stage two cans, Larini cans, Vonhep, etc, I decided a flexible mount would work better-- no more cracking and is transmits less vibration to the frame hangers- so it makes less cabin noise/drone. Simple. I also incorporated loops to locate the bands on the mount and added a fixture to the passenger side of the rod. Together, the loops and fixture will prevent the exhaust from walking off the head pipe in the case of a clamp failure. Again, all light weight and simple. CoastFab signed off to me that the can would do just fine mounting it to the bar as I have it, and they'll stand behind the part...

Anyways...

Thanks again Serge I'm very happy that you're very happy!

Best,

Phil

whats the diameter. I know its quite a bit larger diameter than one of their standard off the shelf units. 6? or 6.25? I know they make those for other IDs just not 2.5". Also is it packed with stainless or glass packing, or a mix? I've burned out a couple of their glass packed mufflers already, but the stainless I think defeats the purpose for weight but it would last. I want to try one with a stainless wrap around the core then glass over that...maybe the best of both worlds? But ya at that size it can be pretty quiet and still quite light.

+1 Phil's a class act! Lots of knowledge and he does alot of heavy lifting as far as testing etc. Its easy to nitpick and throw rocks, however, its hard to do the work and bring a product to market and stand behind it. We've done alot of stuff with Phil and the working relationship is great! BTW, BWR will be carrying the BOE exhausts soon. In fact we are going to do a custom version for the XP Lotus this year also.

+4 hope to have my TVS next year (with IC), at first the howling screams of my stock MP62 at the track was kinda "cool", after a few event it's now just annoying ... I want to hear my exhaust.

Z

This thread is in relation to shopping experience on the WEB.
Let me explain: North of the border where I live, when we commit to buy something it is a little bit more complicated if it fails. Now, under some quick assumption this reply was already discrediting the product... I don't care who fabricate the product, I only wants the exhaust to work with my system. That being said, Phil has sent me a brand new exhaust under the possibility of returning it back (after testing) in case of being too loud. That is what I call customer care & service!!!

Lets stop beating around the bush, ZJChaser is from the Frank/Charlie camp, Phil is not.

If you want a product that works, is affordable, and comes with excellent support, then Phil/BOE is great choice.

What Phil does isn't his primary source of income, in fact, it's close to no source of income (maybe a tax writeoff??) -- he does it for the lotus community, not to make a big profit. This does cause some undermining for other folks who are trying to make a living out of selling Lotus parts/services which might be a source of friction amoungst these other parties. But from an end user perspective, we the Lotus community win - we get affordable quality products that work and withstand the tortures of the track and thanks to Phil's passion and financial stability, he'll be around for a long time.

When's the last time you bought a part/service from someone and they called you up after your track event and asked how it went? Phil does this, Kris at DRS (EFI) does this -- it's nice to have someone who actually gives a ****, and isn't in it for just the money.

Rob
