Nice indeed. May check them out. Only thing different would be the width. I need to be able to squeeze an Esprit in there on occasion.

I was going to ask how you would get out of the car but I just figured out that you will winch it in and out...

I would like to see pics of it finished and with the car in it.

That one is 79" wide and the 2-Eleven is 68.5" wide so you should have loads of room.

It's the rear door opening that is tight, 71".

I just noticed the RDO width and guessed what that must mean...

I like the V-nose low rider variant. Lower roof line for easier tow and offered in a wider width.

Guys,

From anywhere other than the Midwest this may be a stretch, but Montrose Trailers (Custom aluminum trailers for your car, motorcycle, snowmobile and ATV.) of Montrose, MI., makes nothing but custom all aluminum trailers. AutoEurope, the Detroit Lotus dealer, has been working with them for a number of years to get the right trailer for smaller Lotus cars. Mine weighs less than 1,500 lbs and will haul anything from my Elan S3 to my Esprit and is outfitted to haul three motorcycles. The center of the trailer is recessed about 9" to accomodate extra wheels and tires and track junk. If you are more interested, give Gary a call at Montrose (810-639-7431) or e-mail me for some more information and pictures. At the LOG I received more inquiries about the trailer than I did about the 2-Eleven!

How much did that trailer run you? It looks exactly like what I am looking for.

I love those enclosed trailers on the Auto Europe website, as well as the Trailex brand. As for the 2Eleven with its lack of doors, I wanted a trailer with enough headroom and width so I could drive the car in and "dismount" without hitting my head on the trailer ceiling or smashing my foot into the walls... I'm clumsy....and... old.

Al,

It was a little less than $12K delivered (not including the e-track that I installed). It's designed to be low profile but you determine all of the dimensions. I could have lowered the height at least another 4" but I wanted to be safe rather than later be sorry. As is, I gained about 10-15% better fuel economy over my old traditional 22' box trailer. With both clams and side doors up, it is very cool inside even on the hottest track days. All of the lights, including interior are LED's. I'm going to get a 10' X 15' pop-up canopy to use with it at the track. With a 2-wheeled trailer dolly and a 4-caster wheel dolly beneath one of the inside wheels, I can turn the trailer on a dime and can now keep it at my house.

Jack,

Like you, I'm old and clumsy and 6'2" (I look like Fred Flintstone in all of my Loti!). As is, the 2-Eleven is not that easy to get in and out of for me but I drive the car into and out of the trailer and with a side door open can "dismount" the 2-Eleven without making a fool of myself! Also, the price of the trailer included the four leveling jacks on the four corners of the trailer. The aluminum ramps slide underneath the trailer from the rear.

Bill,

That looks like a brilliant trailer. Is there any excess flex because of all the openings?

How much side clearance do you have with the 2-Eleven?

Norm

Norm,

None that I can perceive. It appears to be well braced on the inside. It "trailers" very well due to light weight, low center of gravity, and minimal frontal area. I remember there to be around 4" on either side of the 2-Eleven for clearance. I don't have the interior dimensions with me but because of the design of the cargo walls being inboard of the wheels, I'd imagine it to be very close to the 79" advertised for the Legend trailer. Loading it "nose-in" is a snap. Backing it in requires the Mrs. help! I have yet to put the Esprit in it but it was designed for it to fit within it as well. I have a an electric winch to use on the front of the tongue but only to be used in the event of a track "mishap"!

Love your setup, Bill.

I went with the traditional 20 footer...use the wireless electric winch for the Cup car but just drive the 2Eleven on...piece of cake.
