I hope the pace on track is better than pace of this project

I finally got the car back from basic body and fabrication work, although there is still quite a bit more to do, like front splitter. Now I need to get it to fire with the standalone and get the dash to communicate with the stand alone. Then I need to do the basic wiring (with some little extras like manual control of the heat soak pump to circulate coolant in the turbo without engine running). Once it will run and drive under its own power, then the cosmetics and tuning can begin. In any event, I figured there is enough progress to make this worth posting.

Its no beauty queen, but I bet that car is going to be smoking fast. Ive seen it in your garage up at Cresson a few times and it looks crazy light.

Looks like a cool project. Why is the roll cage so high?

Actually, I wonder what the aero effect of the rollbar tubing that close to the wing will do to it's effectiveness. Round tubing makes for some nasty turbulence and drag. Maybe making the rear side of the tubing more aerodynamically smooth would help?

That's what I was thinking. That or the OP is really tall.

Wing height is "up in the air" and may be adjusted, but that is easy. I had even thought of mounting it to the main hoop and rear downtubes.

Main hoop is high because a straight line from that hoop to the hoop in front of steering wheel must clear driver helmet by 2" per SCCA rules. What I am worried about is flak over the fact that I plan to rivet and bond the cage mounting plates to the chassis, as I do not like bolt-in cages at all. The holes wallow out fairly quickly.

I like how the mirrors are mounted. I guess the bar is not in the way.

225/40-17 rears? I just switched to that size for my rear tires.

Wheels are just for rolling around. Going to 15 x 7.5 front and 15 x 8 rear with slicks. Those orange SSRs may get re-finished and make their way to my street car

Cool

Where does the intercooler radiator vent - is it above the diffuser or are you going to cut out the rear panel?

we will open up the rear panel, but it will also vent above the diffuser. I can log IAT so we will see if normal ariflow is enough or if fans are called for.

I'll be very interested to hear what sort of laps she can turn once she's sorted. I've got high hopes for some wicked quick times being posted.

You need to read and learn a bit more about the main cars on the board "dude". And it isn't a "renovation" - this is the creation of a modern race car.
