Innovative mounts: 60a vs 85a

I've had all four 60A durometer mounts for about 6 months.
I love them, but have noticed engine rocking under hard acceleration to hard braking. The rocking is also pronounced on off<>on throttle transitions as well
as heel/toe down shifts.

Are the 85a significantly better/firmer than the 60a?
Will they impart more NVH? (not that this is an issue, just curious)

-Robert

85A are significantly stiffer. on my RSX i was able to run just the 2 side mounts and the rear mount with 85A.

You can buy just the front and rear mounts in 85A durometer.

That said, I have four 60A mounts in my Exige and 60A front and rear mounts in my Isotope Green 2-Eleven. A significant improvement over stock.

The Yellow Hornet 2-Eleven now has 85A front and rear mounts. It hasn't been tracked yet... but there seems to be a noticeable increase in vibration. Obviously not a serious issue for a track car.

Thanks for the input.
The 60A is a big improvement, but after you get accustomed to something you always want something better.

The 85's add A LOT of vibration. We tested them on our Elise which is..or was a street friendly car at that point. We only recommend these for race cars: cars that will never see the street. throttle response was fantastic as was the shifting feel. HIGHLY recommended from a performance stand point on a track-only car. You've got to be pretty hardcore to put up with this on street

I installed the 85A's on my Exige a couple of weeks ago. I was amazed because I used to be able to see the shifter moving just revving the engine. Now, no noticeable movement just revving the engine and very little shifter movement at the track.

However, if you think there were little vibration noises on the stock 111, now it's 10x the rattling. The engine even sounds louder inside the car because it's vibrating the whole frame - imagine tapping a tuning fork then setting the handle on a table.

That being said, the annoying parts really only occur under 2500 rpm or so and is the worst at idle. It's PFM on the track and really changes the feel of the car.

Mine is a track/street/occasional DD. My 2 cents - if you can put up with a Stage II exhaust on a road trip, you'll have no problem with the 85A mounts.

I'll put up some notes from my install in the next few weeks (and how to combine the substiffy, gpan and racemounts install without killing yourself.)

I have 85A on my 2-11 and there is loooooots of vibration in the lower RPMs .... But they work great .
I took some video of the engine during a track session and there is very little movement .
Gears are better .... sharper and everything is a little snappier.

I had Manly inserts on for about three months before I got tired of re-adjusting my drooping dual-tip Larini due to the engine movement. I put on Sector's RACEmounts (85a) and I'll never go back. My Elise was purely a street car and I briefly had second thoughts (and I consider myself moderately hard-core) during the break-in period - if such a thing exists for mounts, IDK. But after a few hundred miles, they "mellowed" out to absolute driving perfection; vibration increased quite a bit - using the rear-view mirror at a standstill was useless and like peering through the eyes of someone room-spinningly intoxicated - shifts were smoother and sharper, throttle response was telepathic, exhaust sounded better, food tasted better, colors were brighter, my quality of life improved at least 25%. It's the way these cars should come from the factory, IMHO.

I have the 75A mounts on my street/track Exige, I'm very happy with them. I haven't tried the 85A's, but based on these (and other) reports, I think they're a good compromise for a street and track car.

It's alive!!!

Does anyone have the 60a's on the side mounts and stiffer ones on the rear and front locations? I was thinking I may try the 85's front and rear, but leave the 60A's on the side..?

Can the poly-inserts be pressed out of the innovative mounts and be replaced with a different poly insert?
-Robert

Innovative can press in different durometer inserts for you
